@Nicole thank you. I’m mainly worried bc my clinic was so apologetic on Friday, saying this is not a good sign and go prepare ourselves. Really hard to hear that since I did feel we came in too early. Plus I have a higher bmi which I’ve read can skew things a bit (lower hcg).
I’ve been in this position before and I was grateful my clinic prepared me for what the most likely outcome was. You really should be seeing the internal structure of an embryo at 5+6 since they expect a fetal heart rate at 6+2. There are definitely outliers but what I do from my clinic is that the chances of viability is somewhere around 10% when they’re not seeing a yolk sac at this stage.
@Christin yeah, they couldn’t see much of anything on Friday. Just a shadow of the gestational sac. I’m expecting bad news tomorrow. How did it turn out for you?
They finally could see a gestational sac around 6.5 weeks but still no yolk sac and they eventually diagnosed it as a MMC. The limbo is truly awful and I’m so sorry you’re stuck in it too. I will keep my fingers crossed you get good news tomorrow.
@Christin thank you.
I had my second scan today where we saw a clear gestational sac, fetal pole, and faint heartbeat. HCG is a little low but still rising. My heart is very guarded. But praying.
Yay!! That is wonderful news! What was the heartbeat? When will you go back for your next scan? Regarding HCG - it’s irrelevant what the numbers are, what’s important is that you are doubling every 48 hours. Your numbers are totally fine and your second scan is great! Also, you can only start to see structures of a pregnancy with an hcg of over 1500 which may explain why they couldn’t see much at your first scan!
@Nicole the heartbeat was very faint and they didn’t measure it. They have me coming back next week to reassess and hopefully see a clearer picture. My HCG did not double in 48 hours (from 911 on May 9 it rose to 1545 on May 13) either so we’re still extremely cautious about the growth and development happening. It’s so stressful. To add to this, my clinic thinks I was 5+6 yesterday instead of Friday (like they think I should have been based on timing of my FET). Not sure if it’s safe to be 4 days behind. They’re treating this with a lot of caution until they can compare scans.
Good luck for the wait and your next scan, pls keep us posted 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 In the meantime, look after yourself.
Your HCG levels are rising nicely. All pregnancies progress at slightly different rates so I would say be hopeful for tomorrow! You could have just been a touch too early.
