Needing to buy my son (9 months) a new carseat but also going to America in July, I can’t find a proper answer on google but is any carseat ok to take abroad or is there anything i need to look out for?

You have to get USA ones approved for over there. Search car seats USA in Facebook and join a group to ask what's best.

In the US, car seats have to have chest clips, while here it's not allowed. Your best bet is to rent one out there

You can use a UK seat for short use holidays but just not long term. Renting car seats is not advised due to unknown age of the seat and whether they’ve been in accidents etc. We took my baby at 9 months and took her infancy carrier. I was actually pulled over by the county sheriff for something negligible and they inspected the car and car seat and said nothing about it not having a chest clip Chest clips aren’t safety factors just harness positioners
