Tv license ? What do I have to do ?

You now need to have a tv licence to watch YouTube, Netflix etc which is very annoying.
@Lucy I checked it as well on Google, and it says the same , but I can admit that couple of times I press on BBC when it show up and it was live, but I even don't remember when it was... What can I do now in my situation ? I don't want to pay this amount for something what I really don't use

Technically, yes HOWEVER in your situation I'd be tempted to just delete iPlayer and not use it again? They're extremely unlikely to do anything or be able to tell. You can go on the TV license website and declare you don't need a license. Then if a TV license person ever does come to the door, just explain you don't watch any live TV or iPlayer, which is true. @Jade Think the Netflix/YouTube thing is only true if you watch livestreamed TV shows on there. Like a show (Eurovision/BBC news for instance) which is being shown live on YouTube at the same time as on TV - https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/faqs/FAQ104 For kids cartoon videos, like random Bluey clips or whatever, that is different + allowed
I just googled it myself after seeing the other replies and it turns out you don’t actually need one unless you’re watching live tv on them apps and obviously bbc iPlayer. I’d just declare that you don’t need one so they don’t take further action
Not paid for a tv license for the last 5 years. They keep threatening to come round to investigate but I’m still waiting. We don’t watch TV, just stream the apps and never watch anything live

I got these same letters and have been for the last 6 years. Just ignore them. I always get letters saying they’re gonna come round but they don’t.
Do the opposite of what the letter says- ignore it 🤣 they just like to threaten people, if they really came around and did anything majority of us would have tv licenses. They don’t have the power to barge into your house and look around for any devices. Keep watching what you’re watching.
Just ignore the letters it's all scare tactics to make you panic and then pay. They literally cycle through different letters and then start again from the beginning. If there were to knock at your house, you don't have to let them in. They have no power to enter regardless of what they say.
We don’t even have an Ariel, purposely not buying one cuz we just don’t watch tv. they come to the door and I said no to every question about streaming and live tv and he looked confused and at a lost cuz I said I don’t watch tv. It was originally for just watching the bbc.
Just visit the website and declare that you don’t need one and the letters will stop 😊
Just declare you don’t need one. They can’t tell even if you do so don’t worry about how you clicked bbc a few times. Also if they come round just say you don’t need one and close the door. Don’t get into a conversation with them and don’t let them in!

Go on the tv license website and do the ‘do I need a tv license’ questionnaire. If you don’t need one, you need to declare this and you’ll receive a No License Needed confirmation email

I declared i didn’t need a tv license and still got emails/letters. But phoned them, explained i may have accidentally clicked on BBC iplayer and i don’t need a license because i don’t watch any of the things listed and they apologised and not heard from them since. I have also logged out of BBC iplayer and deleted the app
Thank you so much for everyone who commented. I declared last night that I don't need TV license, now I am okay. To be honest I was worried when got this letter , but after your comments I don't care about them anymore
