I really struggled with this too with my firstborn, she was the one child who DID NOT fall asleep in the car even if she was exhausted she’d fight it until she was taken out & held, she needed that physical touch. He might be the same way, it’s a secure attachment & sensory need to calm & regulate his nervous system. I know it’s hard, I wish there’s more I could suggest other than finding music that helps soothe him or even playing white noise. Singing to him might help too, the sound of your voice might be soothing to him. There’s some kind of unmet need underneath it, it’s just a matter of figuring out his personality & what his sensory needs are. Maybe he might like a soft blanket or something visual for him too like a low-stimulating light up toy or car mirror that has the lights/music.
I feel you tho momma you’re not alone! Errands were so dreadful to do cause she would cry the whole time too😫
I had this issue but I found that he LOVES being signed to. Learn the ABCs in sign language if you don’t already know it and sing it to him. It gets tiring but you can pick your favorite abc song and just do the signing part. Well that’s I guess if you’re not driving. I luckily got him used to me signing and singing it before I started driving on my own again.
We had the same issue. Honestly I'm not sure I can say exactly what helped, but I let her "check out" her car seat in the house. She can get in it, or pick at the straps, so it isn't scary anymore. Loading her up to go somewhere is a pain sometimes because she just doesn't like being stationary. Sometimes a sensory video, or baby video like Miss Rachel, Bluey, or something like that distracts her until we get in the car. Once we're moving she's fine. I hope he gets more comfortable with it. 💜💙
