FTM here as well! Congratulations on your little one!🫶🏻 I was recommended to get a variety of different brands of diapers and bottles to start because some babies have skin sensitivities or just straight up don’t like certain bottles! I know this doesn’t DIRECTLY answer your question but hopefully it helps ease your mind not to stress TOO much over brands right now! Go-tos are definitely MAM and Dr Brown from what I’ve heard and read but diapers are whatever makes sense for you and baby!
How many diapers should you get for a newborn?? I heard they can grow out of that size fast
Diapers may depend on your little one. I know as newborns for my kids, Huggies little snugglers fit their bodies best. We tried the Costco diapers and it gave one of my little terrible rashes. As for bottles, if you plan on breast feeding and bottle feeding, the evenflo bottles were great for my baby going between the two. With my first I wasn’t able to breastfeed and he was solely bottle fed and we had good luck with Dr browns but ended up switching to comotomo bc we hated how many pieces there were to wash with the Dr browns ones
@Chelsey i would start with just 1 big box of newborn sized diapers. Depending on how big or small your baby is, they might not even use that many. Or might be already in size 1 when they're born.
@Chelsey im second time mom and still had to look at how many diapers newborns go through. It jink Google said 8 to 12 a day. My son was born over 10 pounds so hardly fit into newborn. So keep baby size in mind. This time around my baby is also looking like he will be a big one so im going to get a lot of size 1 rather than newborn
for diapers I like rascals && friends walmart sells them, great quality, ample space super affordable.. I used mam bottles w my first baby
Bottles: Tommy Tippees. They’re anticolic AND they make pacifiers with the same nipple tip. 10/10 recommend.
@Raphaella for the Costco diapers, are you still sticking with them after they’ve switched manufacturers. I used to buy them too but they came out with a different material diaper that just IS NOT like the ones they once had. I started buying Huggies last month because those new Costco ones have horrible reviews.
For the diapers. My now go to is Huggies, I never liked luvs or pampers and can’t say I’ve tried any other brands. But Costco occasionally has $10 off their box of diapers and that’s a great steal if you compare Huggie prices anywhere else. Also, I would ask for more size 1 diapers than anything, I was gifted a good amount of newborn that I didn’t have to purchase any and jumped on over to size 1 where we stayed for a bit of time.
@Brenda we bought 1 box of the new ones to try them out and we are about 3/4 of the way through it and have had zero blowouts or leaks so we will stick to them. They definitely feel different but since we haven't had issues I'll stay on them.
@Raphaella thank you, I need to give them a try then cause I read so many bad reviews I decided not to try them and just jumped over to Huggies
Things you need: stroller, car seat, swing, crib, bassinet, I used pampers for both kids, never had leak problems, wipes. Everything else is secondary. Ppl will get clothes, blankets, beanies etc. but definitely ask for the main stuff as a priority.
Also don’t ask for the same size, you should only need like 1 or 2 packs or newborn, 2 packs of size one, 3 packs of size 2. If they get you more than you need you can always return the diapers as long as the box isn’t open.

For diapers we use the costco brand ones - super cheap in comparison with name-brand ones and they work great. For bottles, we bought a "Bottle Box" from Babylist that has 5 different brands for you to try. Babies are weird and will sometimes prefer the nipped shape of one versus another. Ultimately our baby, he was super colicky so we ended up landing on the MAM bottles bc the Dr.Brown ones that were also good had too many parts to wash for my liking.
