Questions to ask nursery

Hey! Getting a tour of the future nursery for my little one in a few weeks- she’ll be 2 when she starts in November and just wondering what questions people ask? I asked a lot about funding & days etc but no idea what to ask about the actual daily things😅

How do they approach potty training? How do they handle naps? (Set times or in accordance with the kid) What is the menu like? Do they do forest school? Are the staff allowed to do babysitting?

Sickness policy!

Id also ask how they manage meal times with regards to allergies. I.e. if you're child comes to have an allergy, how can we be reassured he's food will be made/served separately and what they do to mitigate risk of cross contamination from other babies x

Naps - monitored how, where, etc Do they accept non-vaccinated kids? How is the day recorded? Are the kids taken out during the day or kept in nursery centre We asked about signing because we sign with our LO so wanted that to continue (though can't see that happening)

@Felicity I think in the UK all children need to be considered for acceptance regardless of vaccination status, is that incorrect?

I think for private nurseries it's up to their discretion but council owned can't reject based on non-vacxed. Obviously there are some children who can't be vaccinated for various reasons but I still felt it was something I wanted to know

@Felicity thank you! That’s interesting. My daughter is at a private nursery and it was never mentioned or asked. I did want to ask but I didn’t think this was a thing in the UK, maybe I should have.
