I’ve now got the implant for the second time and it’s fine. You have anaesthetic to put it in and out which is the worse bit but then there’s no worrying for 3 years. I wanted the coil had it put in but it managed to fall out! Felt like a tampon not being in far enough. The doctor said it might have been my uterus taking longer to heal so contracting making my cervix move. I would definitely try it again at the end of my three years on the implant as I’d love no hormones. The injection friends have had and love. Though it is the one that can mess with your mental health the most out of the three and if you did want to return to normal cycles at any stage that can take up to 18months! If you’re still wondering though send an email to your doctors and they’ll do a telephone conversation with yo going through the benefits and risks and which they think may suit you the most.
@Naomi yeah I’m sure I’ve heard before about the coil either falling out or getting lost 🤔 That’s good to know about the injection! I did have a chat with the dr today but it was more of a ‘you go off and research and just let us know your choice’ 🤷🏻♀️
I tried the nuva ring after about 4 different birth controls . Hope this helps
I was told breastfeeding increases the chance of the coil going up and needing keyhole surgery to get it out but it’s so minimal! But 10years and no hormones just sounds amazing!!
I had the mirena coil for 5 years (pre pregnancy) and it was great, I’ve always suffered with really bad periods, heavy and long every month but when I had the coil they shortened from 9 days to about 4 days and a lot lighter bleeding. It wasn’t as uncomfortable as you would think getting it fitted and taken out either. The speculum was the worst part in my experience! x
I have the Mirena IUD forbthe second time and I have always loved it my husband and I have had unprotected sex for 5 years no issues I got pregnant on the pill when I had to get my iud removed 🙄
So I had the implant, and I was on and off my period constantly, ended up on the mini pill along side it to stop my periods, that’s just me tho I have friends who it’s been fine for! Main plus is I didn’t get pregnant haha
