I just track pullout and use condoms on fertile days. Been working for us. I’m on my period now as I type. Haven’t been on any hormonal BC for 15yrs, I don’t want the weight gain or acne or side effects of any hormonal BC.
I have had 4 implants over the years, always got along with it, stops my period totally for the first year/ year and a half then some mild spotting on the period week after that, fell pregnant within a month of it being removed twice so it doesn’t seem to take ages for fertility to come back, would definitely have another after this baby 🙂 tried the mini pill for a couple months after last baby while waiting for my appointment to have my implant put in and it was fine, just annoying having to remember to take it everyday 🤣
I’ve gone on the implant recently and so far I’m really getting along with it. I was on the depo injection for a long time but advised that I’d been on it for too long so was taken off of it and went on the pill. When I was on the pill I fell pregnant with my little boy so I can’t say I trust it anymore 🙈x
Absolutely love the depo injection. Stops my periods and I only have to worry about it every 3 months.
I got pregnant on the pill, took it religiously every day, same time & still managed to get pregnant 😂🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
There's the patch as well which is great. Evra it's called.
Natural Cycles worked for me
@Jenny there’s also another patch called twirla!
The pill has always agreed on me. I was on it for 10 years and came off of it and after a month of trying I fell pregnant. I’m now 6 weeks postpartum and plan on going back on the pill x
Thanks all! Lots to consider, patch is interesting
I had the mirena coil fitted about 9 months ago and so far it's worked a treat for me. Prior to this I had spent 5 years on the combined pill then switched to progesterone only for the next 10 years due due to migraines and family history of blood clot. I can honestly say the mirena has given me no side effects and my periods are extremely light lasting only a few days. I had a brief hormone free spell after my second baby and my periods were heavy for 7 days. The mirena was recommended by my gp (after looking into things and suggesting it is likely endo which had been masked by the pill for many years) and it's honestly the best decision I've made. Fitting was mildly uncomfortable but nothing awful x
Ive had the mirena IUD for 10 years and then got one inserted just recently when 7 months pp. It lasts 8 years as a contraceptive, it is progesterone only so won't affect breastfeeding (if that's a concern), and your periods go away almost entirely which is nice. It is the most effective form of birth control.
I was on the combo pill majority of my life since high school for pcos. It always made me gain weight! Which led to other health issues, it also raised my blood pressure. Tried the mini pill after birth, it was okay… then went back to combo because I stopped breastfeeding, I gained so much weight and it made me feel like crap. So I don’t think I’m ever touching it again. I honestly don’t I like the stuff I see or read about the other contraceptives either, so I don’t think I’ll ever get on any contraceptive ever again.
