Help

Not sure if this is the best place to post or not. But I need advice on getting rid of lice. My daughter keeps getting it no matter what I do. I’ve even brought her to a lice clinic and got rid of it. But now it’s back. It feels like no matter how hard I try it won’t stay away.

This has been a struggle with my kiddos this year too. Another kid from school had it and I don't think their parents knew that while the shampoo kills the lice, it does nothing to kill the nits. You have to manually remove those with a nit comb. After getting lice a few separate times, I started nit combing every Sunday. It's a pain, but we're lice free. I also got "Fairy Tales Rosemary Repel" shampoo, conditioner, and leave in spray and we have been using that for a few weeks. Additionally, wash or bag EVERYTHING. Lice will get in blankets, stuffed animals, etc. I washed and/or used lice spray on couches, pillows, car seats- everything.

You can try a few drops of tea tree oil in their shampoo. I don’t know how old your kid is, but you can try straightening their hair as high of heat as they can stand. This not only will kill the eggs after the wash, but will help when picking out the lice. I had lice a lot growing up. My mom did lots of vinegar and plastic wrap hats overnights, tried hair dye, lice shampoos, etc. The things I listed above is what she did the last few times I had lice, so I assume that’s what she decided finally worked best. Like Kody said, bag everything up really tightly in garbage bags and freeze it for a few days.

Depending on their age, growing up I used to get it all the time and real bad. Rubbing alcohol is what seemed to work best for me, or going to children’s mercy they had a medication that helped well. Putting tea tree oil or coconut oil in my hair, after the medicine to help rehydrate the hair. Leave for at least 20-30 minutes. Make sure you wash everything! And you can put rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and spray the things that can’t be put in the washer. Hope it helps
