We had our toddler transition meeting yesterday with IU13. Basically, you meet with an OT and the evaluate your child’s skills using toys and worksheets. They had my daughter stack cups, do puzzles, sort colors and shapes – that sort of thing. They’ll also ask you a bunch of questions about things your child can and cannot do. It took about an hour for us.
You also don’t live too far from me I have TONS of resources because my 4 year old son is level 3 autistic, nonverbal, hearing loss, and has PICA. My stepson is 7 and level 2 autistic and ADHD. You’re more than welcome to message me and I can always help as best as possible! 🥰
Thanks everyone. The main reason why my son is getting screened is for impulse control issues/anger and nervous. When I talked to them on the phone they said if he qualifies he will get cbt to learn coping skills. I'm just unsure how they will test that
Hello! Yes! Will the preschooler be getting any therapies? For my son he got PT, OT, SI, hearing and speech so when they did screening they basically just asked a TON of questions and evaluated the child by bringing in certain little games, coloring books and then for PT they watched him run around and brought out a balance beam and such, just to see what they’re capable of and what they’re not so they can make sure their needs are met to the best of their ability.
