WFH with toddler

For those of you working from home and are covering childcare at the same time.. how’re you doing it? Do you have any advice at all? I am looking to return back to work part time but to make it worth my while financially, I’m thinking of having our daughter one day a week at home (both my partner and I will be at home working). I’m just not sure it’ll work or how it would work as she’s pretty active.

You will need to check your contract. For me I cannot have a child and work - it’s written into my contract. Personally I have not been able to do work and look after a child at home.

Totally depends on your child, if your work doesn’t have it written into to your contract then you could do it. Also depends on your job, during Covid I worked from home and although I didn’t have kids at the time, I know now that I could have easily looked after my first born whilst working. My second child not a chance

We do it two times a week. She goes to nursery 3 days a week. It’s been fine, I would say that if your contract allows for it, try and carve out 15 mins outside of your daily routine to give them undivided attention so that her emotional needs are being met too x

@Shana thank you! Both my partner and I would be home so we thought could split up the day between us and take our lunch breaks at different times etc x
