Oh I may have misread it and got ahead of myself 🤦🏻♀️ - I wouldn’t be using it all anyway to begin with as was thinking of doing a few hours in a Monday so not the end of the world if I had to pay x
The working parents free hours for 9 months upwards starts in September so you'd have to check when you're eligible but also look at tax free childcare which you can use alongside. Depending when your LO's birthday is, they won't qualify for funding till the term after they turn 9 months so if that's after 31st August you won't qualify till January
You can currently get 15 hours working parent funding for the term after your child is 9 months old so before 31st August for September, 31st December for January and 31st march for April. From September 2025 it changes to 30 hours. Funding doesn't mean free and each nursery has their own set of rules on how they accept funding and if there are any additional charges. A lot of nurseries ask for a minimum of 2 sessions across 2 days as well as this helps with settling!
I may be wrong but as far as I’m aware you only get 15 hours free up until age 2 then it changes to the 30 free hours? I think it’s due to change to 30 hours but not until later in the year?x
