16 weeks appointment over phone

This is my second baby and got a letter this time that the 16 week appointment will be over the phone, couple of things with this, 1. Isn’t the 16 week appointment (all appointments actually) to make sure baby’s wells, developing okay etc, please someone explain to me how they can do this over the phone/ what way it’s gonna go. When I tried to call the number to rearange, it said it was no recognised, anyone had any over the phone appointments and know how they go, would be appreciated.

Interesting as my 16 week appt was in person bc they needed a urine sample and to give me my RSV vaccine. I do think for 2nd babies (from what I’ve read) you may be offered less appts but the book I read said that was more post 20 weeks. Sorry can’t be of more help x

I'd say look for an email for your midwife to ask for the appointment in person as they do usually do bloods, urine and check blood pressure and then they listened to baby with a doppler at mine

Agree with the above, I think a urine sample is always needed to make sure all is well with that and no underlying uti or anything. I’d push for one x

@Mahsa my midwife told me I could only get the rsv vaccine from 28 weeks !

@Natalie oh gosh sorry I meant whooping cough vaccine! Baby brain 😅

@Mahsa oh no worries, I was thinking I was being gaslit by my midwife haha. Even that one they won’t give me til after my 20 week scan 😂

😂 my bad!! Good luck for your 20 week scan!

Very sorry incognito but its worth asking your midwifery team or hospital trust why this has happened, could be somthning to do with whoever is dealing with you for this appt. All I can say is you have to be an advocate for yourself with these appointments so well done for asking for further advice online because care can be so different throughout different counties.

I went to mine on Tuesday this week. They just did a urine sample and asked how I was, and whether I wanted to give birth at home. She said they didn’t need to do anything else really with it being my second and that they’ll do bloods and everything else again at 28 week appointment. So maybe it’s because of that? I would have thought they’d still want the urine sample though to check it over? But Basically.. it’s totally chill and nothing exciting happens. They don’t do the Doppler really anymore unless you request it so it doesn’t give any false hope and delay you from speaking to triage about any changes because the heart beat reassured you. You could always ask about the urine sample if that’s worrying you at all? I hope this helps x
