UK stay at home mums

Hi all, I am still at the first part of my mat leave with my second child, but looking at the cost of childcare, the lack of family around us, the stressful expectation at my work and the needs of my kids (education quality is not too impressive, so I try to put in extra time and effort to educate my older one who will soon enter pre-teens soon), the more I do the maths, the more it seems like it is best for everyone if I stay at home for a few years and leave my work. I actually feel fine with that, feel like that is the right thing to do, but I wanted to ask you guys about the reality of being a stay at home mum...the good, the bad, the ugly. Just to know what not to be surprised about.. Thanks for sharing your experience!

What activities does everyone do with their 2 year old. Things to do indoors and outdoors please

Hi all, So I am lucky enough to be a SAHM, so I don't need a nursery placement for my LO at the moment. He turns 3 in November so I'm thinking about trying to get him a place at nursery for a couple of sessions a week from January 2027 for the socialisation side of it and so that his first day of school isn't the first time he is ever left somewhere without me! Does anyone send their little one to nursery? The government 15-hour funding comes with so many stipulations, like I'm being told he would have to attend a minimum of 3 afternoons a week! That feels like too much time being taken away from us being together, but I don't have an income to pay for a place myself without the free funding. Can anyone offer any advice or explain what they do, please?

As stay at home mums what does your daily routine look like and do you take your little ones to any clubs or groups. My nearly 2 year old goes football once a week and I just do random things like take him shopping or to the woods with the dog and mostly activities at home but I always feel like I need to add more as he doesn’t go nursery. Any ideas ?

Hey everyone, I totally get that as your kids get older, using apps like this becomes harder and harder, but jeez I need a space to talk about being a SAHM in the UK and to get advice.

Sometimes it’s as simple as cleaning or cooking tips, or it’s about child developmental milestones etc, but I feel like I don’t have any other spaces to speak to other mums who get this life.

Am I the only one? 🙈

Would people be up for posting for general questions in this group to help others out?
