Hi i just wanted to share my birth story, i really really wanted an at home water birth and was pretty hard set on making it happen. I tested positive for strep b which means i needed to have antibiotics during labor, i accepted it was most likely id have to birth at the hospital, but i couldnt have hoped for a better experience, my birth plan was followed to a t by everyone at the hospital, i was uninterrupted with no intervention and birthed my baby naturally with my midwife leading the birth team. I waited until 42 weeks before i allowed them to break my water (i had been refusing induction and was going to continue to do so) my contractions started immediately and within 5 hours my son was born 10 pounds, i used hot water on my lower back on my hands and knees in the shower and i ROARed through every contraction, it felt like max 2 hours to me i was surprised when they said it had been 5. I pushed 4 times at the end my fiancé caught him and i had a small labial tear. My experience was so wonderful everything i wanted was respected and not questioned i was fully supported by hospital staff and i was super grateful to have the staff there for all my questions and their helpful tips and encouragement, it wasnt what i originally wanted and i was really resisting a hospital birth but it worked so wonderfully and im so thankful, you can still have the birth you want even if the setting changes
