35+ Mums

Hi all,

Myself and my wife have had 4 unsuccessful iuis and am now going to try home insemination with a donor. I am just looking for reassurance from couples who have hot pregnant naturally as I am 35, 36 in May and I know my age could be a factor for no success yet!

Has anyone had extra scans booked in by their midwife?

I went for my 12 week scan yesterday then in the afternoon I got a message on my nhs app saying I’d got a new message. Reading it, I’ve got a scan booked in for 23rd August, 20 week scan on 14th September and then a 4th scan on 14th October.

Not sure what the August or October scans are for and I’ve left a message for the midwife but haven’t heard back yet.

Hi everyone, I’ve just ordered this to arrive tomorrow. Any tips or advice welcome as I’ve heard some people listen to their own heartbeat rather than the babies. I am 16wks. Tia

Hi everyone. Here’s one of the reasons I created this group that I hoped none of us would need to talk about.

I went for screening tests yesterday on baby and I got a phone call from the hospital today to say that I’ve got a 1 in 5 chance that I’m carrying a Down syndrome baby. I was hoping for 1 in 250 or at worst 1 in 50 so this has come as a real shock. The lady that phoned asked me if I was sitting down.

I wanted to go in tonight but they asked me and my husband to let the news sink in and to come in for tests at 8:30 tomorrow morning and to talk about next steps. Has anyone else had a statistic this high? Tia x
