Relationships

I’m tired of gendered baby clothing.

Popped into our local supermarket for the weekly shop (I’m UK based) and went to the baby clothing section to get some tights/leggings for our 4mo boy, so that we can layer under pants, etc for warmth during winter.

Obvs all of it was separated by gender and colour (which also irks me cos colour has no gender). Went to the boys side first cos I guess that’s where all the blues are - he just happens to look good in blues and greens - and couldn’t find a single pair. Went to the girls side, and well, picture as evidenced. I… honestly don’t care that it’s pink and yellow. At 4mo neither does he. I just want him warm and comfy.

What annoys me is that do people actually think boys don’t need/shouldn’t wear tights, and need to “tough it out” or some nonsense like that? Out of curiosity I checked the aisle of older kids clothes and again, all the nice warm leggings were closer to the girls’ clothes, and I just… why??? Do they think boys don’t want warm feet/legs too??

And aye, I know other stores probably have gender neutral tights. It’s not my point.

Are Asians considered POC?

So I was conversating with a peer of mine and somehow we got to this topic of Asian folks. They said that the Asian community is not oppressed in comparison to Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities because "they are successful and better off while the rest of us are not". They went on saying that Asian folks think they're white and the Model Minority label got to them and treat the rest of us bad.

I just was quiet and had to process what they said to me. I understand that not all Asian groups benefit from this 'label', especially Hmong and Cambodian peoples for example. But what do you all think?

I hope I don't offend anyone but this is something that really got me thinking.

I’m annoyed and need to vent.

What makes people think that being criticized for their opinions in anyway affects or should be prevented by their first amendment right to free speech. No one said you don’t have the right to be an a-hole other people just also have the right to tell you that you are wrong. This is something that seems to be a problem when I talk to one of my siblings so don’t take it personally if it sounds like I’m talking about you (now I have Carley Simon’s song stuck in my head)
