Hospital bag

I’m starting to think about packing our hospital bags over the next few weeks and I was looking at her clothes. Do people pack newborn sleep suits and 0-3 (just incase she’s chunky!)? Also how many did you take in? Thanks!

Newborn. I'm planning to take 3 or 4 sleepsuits and vests.
My first needed tiny baby really so newborn/first size will be fine

I'd say pack newborn as a standard, if baby is big or small you can also get somebody to pop to the shop and pick you something up. I had newborn and my OH went out and bought teeny baby and she was only 4lb 6oz....was amazed that he actually found teeny baby lol!

At what weeks pregnant do yoy start thinking about hospital bag? Xx

I brought 3 Newborn and 3 0-3; my baby was 8lb 1oz so 0-3 was slightly too big-but she boked all over the last clean newborn sleep suit just before we left hospital and 0-3 big was better than being covered in puke…I’m in N.I so only had to stay in hospital overnight

Take loads of snack for yourself and earphones

I took 3 x newborn / up to 1 month and 1 x 0-3, but had a bag of spares in the car as wasn’t sure how much my husband would be allowed to leave and return with covid. Turns out we were out 12 hours after he was born and he only wore 1 outfit x

I took both and I’m glad I did! My boy came out really long and only the 0-3 sleepsuits fit him in length but the newborn body suits were fine for him!

I packed a few of each and ended up needing tiny baby luckily was only in the hospital a few days but I did have to end up getting a tiny baby grow from the hosp to leave in as he’d been sick on all the ones I had that fitted so defo better to be over packed than under packed. It’s a good idea to put the diff sizes in to diff freezer bags so it’s easy to find and not getting them all mixed up 😊 xx

I took new born and up to 1 month. She was predicted to be over 9lbs but was 7lbs10oz and fit in the newborn. I packed a going home outfit in newborn and 0-3 months. We ended up staying in hospital for a week and I didn’t buy that many new born as she was expected to be big so when we got home I had to buy more newborn!! X

Pack earplugs!!!! Ur hubby will be snoring like he just gave birth and sooo many noises... plus they wake you up every hour or two to check anyway...

I packed 2 outfits each of newborn and 0-3 because I figured baby would be chunky. He was 6 1/2 weeks early so none of them fit and he was in NICU for 3 1/2 weeks. I ended up buying premies while he was there and he wore them for the first 4-5 weeks of life.

Also, it’s never too early to pack. I packed at 33 + 2 and my water broke 2 hours later 🤦🏻‍♀️

I would pack bags for a stay of a couple of nights for both of you and then maybe have a just in case bag that your partner can just lift if you need to stay for longer. Amongst other things when I asked mine to bring socks for the baby I ended up with a lot of scratch mitts

I packed 2 new born and 2 0-3 months. And don’t pack that much. The hospital gives u everything for the baby. But remember to pack your favorite pillow and comfy clothes for ur self.

I need to wash babies clothes and will pack my hospital bag the 3rd week of next month. I will put the clothes that I will take for baby aside. Im in the UK and I'm taking 3 newborn sleepsuits, and 3 short-sleeved. 3 (0-3 months) sleepsuits and 3 (0-3 short-sleeved), going home clothes, 3 hats , 1 blacket, 3 socks, and couple of Nappies.

I took 3x newborn vests and babygrows and 3x 0-3 vests and babygrow. Everyone thought I would have 10 pound baby but he was actually 7’8 so newborn fit perfectly. I took a suitcase which probs looked like I was going abroad for 2 weeks but who cares haha, I had everything I needed xx

Ive just packed newborn. I have no idea how big my baby is going to be!

I wouldnt bother with 0-3 even the biggest babies dont fit into them from birth my baby was 9lb 2oz born and 0-3 months swamped her. Id say newborn and possibly some 0-1 month which some places do x

I put 2 footie onsies as a going home option one of newborn size and one of 0-3 month baby boy was 7lb so he fit newborn just fine for like a month, also I packed a velcro swaddle which I used instead of his hospital blanket. For myself I just recommend a nightgown dress with breast feeding access if you are going the breastfeeding route it helped alot after I had the baby because your going to be feeding offten I even had 2 more waiting at home that I used every night ( and all day) also if you want to be more comfortable than the big pads they give you at the hospital I recommend depends underwear its great cuz its like wearing a padded underwear that you can just toss when it's full, this was a life saver! If you have any questions feel free to ask and best wishes hopefully a speedy delivery!

My baby was 8lb 2oz and even some up to one month and newborn clothes were too big for him x

The one thing I wish I'd taken was some nice soap, shampoo and conditioner. At the public hospitals in Australia it's all just one pump "hair and body wash" in the shower, which was a bit depressing. I felt my body needed some pampering after what it had been through!
Also, fresh fruit snacks and a water bottle.

I took 5 baby grows and she was sick on all of them (mucus sick so it was black) my partner ended up bringing a couple more for her! I had her Sunday night and came home Tuesday afternoon! I’d take at least 4 just so your covered :) size wise, I wouldn’t take 0-3, they won’t fit. My baby was 7Ib and fit Tesco up to 1 month or newborn, she doesn’t yet fit in anything else x

Make sure to pack a list of everyone you need to announce baby arrival to. Especially friends! You can have your Mom tell your family's side and have your husband assign your MIL/in laws his side. But make sure you bring a lis of you and hubby's friends so you don't forget anyone and they don't feel left out.

I put a robe, slippers and comfy socks. Travel cleaning things (shampoo, soap, toothpaste). A going home outfit for me. That was it for me. Dad packed an extra outfit for him. Going home outfit (or a couple choices) for baby. One thing that I didn’t think of for my first delivery was a long charging cable (like a 10ft one) for your phone. The outlets are behind the bed, so you want it to reach...

I took one newborn and one 0-3 month sleeper. The hospital I was at provides sleep sacks for the entire stay so I only needed to bring whatever he was going home in.

Avatar

I packed new born but only like 3 but my labour was not good. I ended up with an emgemcey c section and ended up staying in for 5 days in total x

Avatar

Okay this is my first baby ...so for all the girls who shared about mucus sick in the comments : THANK YOU 🙏 😅 Because I literally had never heard of that in my life 😂😭😶

I did a premie, newborn, and 0-3 month outfit. Don't know what size she's coming out!

Avatar

Yes I took 3 of each in each size, you also need a hat. And I recommend taking 2 blankets. My daughter weed all over hers and we didn't have a spare. It's always best to take more than you need.

Avatar

I took newborn only an they were even too big for my LO as she was born 6lb 8oz.
Do you have any idea how much your baby will weigh?

Avatar

Take 1 or 2 of newborn and 0-3 and if you think your baby is only going to be like 6lbs a premie out fit fits better in my experience. My daughter was 6 pounds 5 oz and my son was 6lbs 6 oz.
