Colds in pregnancy!

I’ve got this awful cold that seems to be doing the rounds at the minute(definitely not covid as testing daily just to make sure)
I’m reading so much conflicting information on the internet about what is safe to use during pregnancy. Need help with the blocked nose, and cough symptoms! I’m 23+1 weeks and it’s my first pregnancy! Xx

Can only take paracetamol unfortunately. I also use olbas oil to help with the blocked nose.

Plenty of rest and fluids, hope you feel better soon xx

I had that horrible cold about three weeks ago.
I asked at the pharmacy, it’s only paracetamol as above. Aside from that I drank even more water than usual!

Sorry Olbas Oil isn’t recommended during pregnancy. It’s just paracetamol that is safe, but there are plenty of natural remedies that can help like drinking lemon/ginger/mint tea with honey. To clear a blocked nose pour boiling water in a big bowl and breathe in the steam. If you get sore muscles from the coughing my midwife said it’s ok to use a little Tiger Balm.
I hope that you feel better soon x

I just stick to paracetamol every 6 hours, Vicks on my chest (not my bump), hot drinks (for the bonus of the steam) and spicy food.

I’ve used Vicks before and using it now as I’m full of a cold. Xx

You are able to have Tunes and possibly soothers for your cough too (sweets without the medication in so not strepsils) Xx

I had one a couple months ago and it’s come back again, paracetamols, honey really helped smooth the sore throat and hot water with fresh lemons and ginger with honey, soothers wrap up when out and about I can’t leave my house without my scarf now. Hope you get better soon x

I recommend a stream bowl, try to keep you head over with a towel trapping the steam - a good 5 to 10 mins. Before bed especially. Good facial too! Xx
