I’m a nurse and I don’t think using any drugs that are not FDA tested and approved or have been classified as a dangerous pregnancy drug class is advisable. I’ve seen babies born with various health issues from drug use and it’s heartbreaking.

It WAS my way of treating anxiety and I am having a lot of trouble without it. I don't trust other anxiety meds not to harm my baby either so I'm looking for honest opinions. Thank you for yours.

I have nothing against marijuana if it's - like lot of things used with moderation. But during pregnancy or with a baby I would say if the addiction controled would be better. I will never judge people with addiction, even if I know alcohol tobacco or any other drugs are really bad for babies (and adults too), as a smoker (stopped since beginning of pregnancy) I know how much it's difficult. My boyfriend smoke weed, since he knows he will dad he is working on it. I leave him time and I understand the struggle. So : of course it's bad but if you want to stop ask for help and do your best.

THC is a definite no. However, CBD ill say yes to. CBD would make it totally medical and THC is for recreational use and to "get high".

I had bad anxiety before pregnancy. I stopped all edible use when I was pregnant. I had to find other ways to deal with the anxiety, healthier ways.
I did prenatal yoga or just mobility stretching, I walked every day sometimes twice a day, I tried meditation, but could not sit still that long. If I wanted to have an edible, I would have a snack. Raw veggies and dip or hummus were like my edibles lol! I was snacking a lot, but hey growing a human is a lot of work. In the evenings when my husband was home, he helped me calm down and we would do puzzles together or card games or watch a movie while he rubbed my feet.
You have to change your mindset. My son is now 13 months old and I have an edible maybe on a Friday or Saturday evening when he goes to bed. I still rely on those healthier habits during the daily grind of being a stay at home mom. It is the hardest but most rewarding job I have ever had.
Good luck and message me if you would like!

Also exercise helps me tremendously with my anxiety. Especially yoga that is breathing focused.

I smoked A LOT before I got pregnant. After I found out I finished what I had left and then didn't smoke again until a few months ago (my son is 19 months now). I use it for anxiety and depression and although I'm also on pharmaceutical medication for it I find the weed helps with the immediate issue, the medication helps the overall issue. I didn't smoke while I was pregnant because the anxiety of not knowing if it would effect my baby negated the help it gives. Since starting back up I have been feeling so much better.
I don't judge any moms for using it during pregnancy. There's not enough research on using it while pregnant to really tell us what the short or long term effects are.

I smoked my whole pregnancy. My ob didnt care seeing as i had my medical card and mental issues from childhood trauma that medication wouldn't touch. Marijuana is my only medicine. My son is fine and advanced for his age.
Everyone has different opinions

Any drug taking or alcohol consumption during pregnancy in my opinion is disgusting. People seem to think weed is the healthiest thing on the planet, but in reality it isn't and is still smoking, causing baby to be starved of oxygen. I first smoked weed for 2 years when I was a teen, it caused paranoia, anxiety and depression. So I can't imagen how much it would affect babys brain especially whilst it's developing. Scientific studies have proven, smoking weed whilst pregnant causes your child to be likely to be diagnosed with mental health disorders in adulthood, especially schizophrenia, why would you inflict that onto your child? They have no choice

I smoked weed in both pregnancies. I have a lot of mental health issues and also suffer from having no appetite so marijuana was the thing that helped. I was open upfront and honest with my midwives. With my first I stopped at around 32 wks I was tested multiple times and always tested negative with my second I never stopped and told my midwife that and why I wasn't stopping and she actually gave me the ok to continue using. I was never drug tested.
I used marijuana because I don't feel comfortable with taking meds that have more serious and scary outcomes then using marijuana while pregnant. These meds these drs prescribe are "safe" but come with a huge ass pamphlet of small print listing all the side effects and problems it can cause.

I wouldn’t do it. I also wouldn’t take prescribed anti nausea pills while I felt so sick at the beginning. Way I see it is there is always chance something could negatively affect and I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if something did go wrong cuz of it.
Also, I know everyone talks about how MJ calms u down etc etc. But there’s also a lot of evidence that shows negatives. Specifically men’s sperm quality and count, other mood disorders (sometimes). So to me it’s not like a tried and true safe option

I smoked the whole time except 2 months before delivery.

Personally, no. Can I see why some people use it medicinally, rather than pharmaceuticals? Yes. Edibles over smoking for sure though. Do I agree with those who use it just because they’re stoners and like to get high? No. That being said, what other people do is none of my business. 🤷🏻♀️

My opinion is don’t smoke but maybe edibles instead- I feel like that has to be a healthier alternative. I know it doesn’t have tobacco but the smoke part is still the same ya know? Idk I’m not a medical expert. Follow your doctors advice!

Personally I wouldn’t, but that’s because I’m a big worrier and if something ever happened to baby I would blame myself. I was very big on alcohol before I got pregnant & it’s just something I’ve had to give up for 9 months. I’m counting down the days until I can pop open a bottle of champagne 🤣 - I understand though where you are coming from as I do suffer from anxiety but I’m on medication for it which has been proven safe for all pregnant women & it has helped me lots. Maybe you should look into it?

No drinking — some docs say a glass sometimes is fine… no smoking — some docs say it’s fine….. no caffeine — some docs say 200 mg….. no sleeping on your side — some docs say it’s safe ….. no cold lunch meet — some say it’s fine…. No hot baths.. lots of pregnant women are encouraged to do so for pain. There is sooooo many different opinions on so many different things in pregnancy. How did moms back in the day, smoking and drinking, no prenatal, etc. have healthy babies? all these judgements and tips on how to have a healthy baby are so ridiculous. She’s just asking for some input and not the “why would you ever do that” …. Stress is PROVEN to hurt a baby. So if it helps her anxiety so what. Everyone needs to just be helpful and stop being judgemental. ALL moms are different ❤️

Everyone has their own opinion. I have smoked during my pregnancy I am 22 weeks pregnant and everything is moving along perfectly. It’s helped me physically and mentally and also people are willing to take other prescribed medications that have worse secondary effects. I’m pro 🤷🏻♀️

Smoking during pregnancy is irresponsible. https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/basic_information/health_effects/pregnancy/index.htm

Seeing allot of comments about mums mental health but SURELY your child’s Heath is more important…it’s your responsibility to give them everything they need, they don’t need weed 😔 even second hand smoke in a room makes me feel stoned never mind how baby must feel after mum smoking! I was a full time weed smoker before getting pregnant and the need to prioritise my baby’s health made me stop! I meaaan after birth who knows if I will return to smoking. NO judgment ether every mum has the choice to do what’s best for their child

There are certain types of CBD oil that are very effective for anxiety but you'd have to check if they're safe to use in pregnancy. I'm sure there must be some out there. From someone who's scared to even take a paracetamol while pregnant though, I'd say actually smoking Marijuana is probably a hard no from a medical POV.

I was stoned all day everyday before I got pregnant, but I stopped cold turkey as soon as I saw that positive line and I plan on going back to smoking/edibles after I have my son (probably not as much tho lol)

I used teeny tiny like .03% THC edibles when I was pregnant very very sparingly. While nursing I have consumed cannabis also … but again low % THC edibles as well as smoking. I have asked a lot of other moms about their experience because the web and docs obviously do not support the normalization of marijuana usage in these realms but it’s just a plant so I would say you’re safe as long as you ain’t getting extremely high! Baby should be just fine :)

Also full spectrum 1:1 cbd to thc ratio for edibles is the route to go

You should join CannaMoms on here. No judgement and lots of information from people who actually know information about weed lol.

NO

It each it's own! I wouldn't risk it. I wouldn't want my baby to be too stoned to kick , I need that kick. Lol

While weed helps calm me down, it does the opposite to my partner. It makes him paranoid and more anxious. Because our baby is half me half him and there’s no way of me telling how it might affect this baby, I personally have chosen not to smoke while pregnant and won’t until I stop breast feeding to be safe.
At the end of the day, it is also smoke inhalation and that has its own set of risks. Because of the unknown, I would advice not to, even when others have said it’s been fine for them. Everyone is different and not worth the risk in my opinion 🤷🏻♀️
No judgment from me, just my thoughts on the topic because it’s something I have questioned a ton during this time as well. Tapping meditation has really helped my anxiety and depression, so I have found a way to cope when I get low. I’d def ask a doctor or midwife to be safe ..

I definitely wouldn't.
There aren't any studies to show how marijuana affects development in fetuses and young babies.
Just remember that people didn't realize Fetal Alcohol Syndrome was such a problem until recently.
I think it's just better to abstain the same way you would with alcohol.
