Is anyone else finding they're using screen time quite often to keep their little ones occupied?
I know it's bad, I said I never would, but it's a godsend when I'm trying to get ready/do housework/do laundry.
But I'm starting to feel guilty about the amount we use it.
Anyone else?

Yes and I feel so guilty about it but my lo hates carseat and I have to keep her occupied with something on every car journey

What show is this?

Same😅 I said when I was pregnant no screen time till at least 6months but you just can’t help it when you need to do things and it’s hard around them haha. We watched this today 🤣 I feel guilty as well x

I’ve never used TV and my son is nearly two, but my house is a mess. You can’t have everything 🤣

Yes! I feel exactly the same but he just can't get enough of those dancing veg! He sits and talks to them so I figure it's helping his speech...sort of 😅🙈 plus it means I can quickly go and do what I've got to do

Soooo guilty! But I need it in order to distract him and get a few minutes to myself 😅 we love sesame street

She loves the dancing Pineapple and friends. Doesn’t care for the other fruit or veg vids. My partners go to when he can’t settle her as he doesn’t have the goods (boobs) 😂

I used to use this a lot for the car to prevent screaming! But my daughter only likes the pineapple, no pineapple and she’s done

I can hear the music just looking at the photo 😂

Yep!!!! Hey bear and googoo gaagaa/colour crew🙃 if i need to clean/eat/have 5 minutes quiet i put it on. Or after her bath. She hates getting dressed after the bath she screams the house down and this is one of the only things that calms her down😅

That’s my secret to tummy time 🤫

Do whatever works for you and don’t feel guilty. There’s only so much you can do while taking care of a baby. I don’t use tv but if I need to do something I put the laundry on. He is fascinated by the washing machine and putting stuff in and out of it. And then we hang it together. Meaning I hang it and he pulls it off 🙈🤣🤣🤣 But we are enjoying a bit of fun while doing chores.

I use the TV more than I should, but I wanted to be able to tolerate what I'm watching.. My 4mo loves Moana, the incredibles, he tolerates wreck it Ralph, coco, etc.. He actually loves watching drama shows too. 🤣 He watched gilmore girls with me. I'm getting it out of my system before he's too big and knows what he's seeing. I've been binging Chicago med 🤣

He watches Ms Rachel and I don’t feel guilty because he learnt so much things from her it’s amazing the things they learn. And also I have a cleaning disorder like I get anxiety if my house is not in order so he watches his or he just follows me around the house he 9 months. Before 6 months he never had screen time to be honest I just cleaned with him there . But nope never feel guilty aslong as they watching something to educate them and learning something no guilt motherhood is what it is we just have to do what works for us all there is no rule or handbook on parenting everyone to their own I say 💕💕💕💕

We are just starting to cut down on it with my son now he’s 19 months, he started to get obsessed with hey peach sensory on YouTube, I put miss Rachel on for him yesterday and he loved it, so that’s the only thing now as it’s educational. He knows how to use the remote and get onto YouTube and pick what he wants so kinda made a rod for my own back there.
But limiting to 30 mins/1hr a day max and only educational. Mainly because if I hear anymore little baby bum or cocomelon I think I’ll go insane 🙈😂

This is on at least once a day in our house, i have to go to the toilet at some point 🤣.I know some will disagree butI really dont see the problem as long as it not all day, she also interacts gets excited, dances or seems to sing a long same with hey dugee . The TV is always on in the background at our house

🙋♀️ our little girl loves the dancing clouds & rainbows one. I do also use Miss Rachel sometimes. I’ll admit I do feel guilty if if used it more than once per day but particularly as we get to the end of the day and she’s a bit more whingy it can be a lifesaver.

We would never be able to cook dinner or eat without this show! 🤣 it’s a life saver!!

I'll be honest, I've considered putting something on for my daughter, but 8 months in and we haven't yet. Just do what you've gotta do Mama!

The hey bear classical music ones. Put my daughter to sleep for nap time. Sometimes it's the only way she will nap.

Gotta do what you gotta do 🤷🏽♀️ Oliver’s watched friends since he was born 😂

When I’m getting ready in the morning I’ve annoyingly become reliant on Hey Bear or nursery rhyme videos 🤦♀️ I wish I’d never started! My son doesn’t seem thaaaat attached atm so I’m hoping I can backtrack and cut them out again, he’s six and a half months. We watched cocomelon for around a week before I read all the awful things about it being addictive & overly stimulating so that’s already gone. If you need to play it though don’t feel bad about it! I’m sure we all watched tv as babies and were okay (ish 😂)

Hey Bear is the best! Its a sensory tool for them and my baby loves to dance to it

Yes, when I have a quick something to do I’ll put my little one in her exersaucer and turn it on to a baby sensory video. I usually do it when I have too clean bottles or do a quick pick up around the apartment. Just be careful, sometimes they can become overstimulated. :)

My LO loves the Disney songs on YouTube - he really smiles at some of them and I love that he enjoys it 🥰 he’s 17 weeks today!

I bought a 4X4 playpen for my kid. It’s like $60-$70 on Amazon. It’s such a godsend for us. When I need to get things done, I just put her in there and she can’t get out or hurt herself. As far as tv. We watch normal adult stuff and Bluey. We don’t do coco melon( Google it and it’s effect on kids) I may be being dramatic, but Coco melon is a no bueno for young children.

I use this when I need to do cook dinner and I’m on my own usually but I just discovered another channel on YouTube that does sensory videos - it’s called fox sensory - we watched the planet one today and my boy was fascinated

Cbeebies is always on for my LG, she loves it in her jumperroo, let me attempt to keep on top of housework etc and finish my online course before I go back to work 🤞

My babe loves this, and I don’t mind it compared to other things on tv lol, and I like the different variations (Halloween is my fav)

Don’t feel guilty! What your baby needs more than anything else is a happy, healthy mama. If that means they watch hey bear for 30 minutes while you get ready or just take a moment for yourself, then do it! Screen time will not permanently damage your child, a depressed and unhappy mom will. Taking care of yourself matters too! 💕

This was a saver for us during car rides.

I use this when I need to distracted him or I just need a little break. I used to feel guilty but my mum told me not to beat myself up and it was OK if I needed to use it to give myself a little rest. So now he bounces to Hey bear's smoothie mix birthday party whenever I'm overwhelmed.

My son used to watch educational videos on YouTube kids but now he has learned to search Roblox 😩 I’ve tried parent controls but it still pops up recommended. Guessing I’ll have to delete the the whole YouTube kids app

Omg! Yes…. My little one is 3 months and she LOVES the fruits and veggies…. But it’s the only way I can get things done around the house.

Screen time has increased at our home, especially since LO was 13 months old. So much more active and only one nap! You get overwhelmed, especially during a pandemic, and enter parental survival mode 😆. We only showed her Baby Signing Time (American Sign Language) at first, and now she can sign more words than verbalize them, and it’s been conducive to communicate with someone who is learning to speak. I regret the days we showed her the usual kid entertainment like Baby Shark because now that's all she wants to watch. Anyway, now she knows what apps play what and screencasts it on TV from an iPad. That’s a skill, right 😂? It's not scientifically proven that screen time affects development, but learning through play and developing gross motor skills is ideal.

Yes! When she was younger!!! But my child probably has above average amount of screen time between specific YouTube videos (from within Playlists I've made) & the iPad... 🤷♀️ She gets tons of outside time too.
I think when the TV plays, it is more passively listening while she plays with her toys... Depending on the video.
