Best practices for summer safety?

I’m a first-time mom and now that the warm weather is here, I’m realizing I don’t really know what the general protocol is for keeping my baby safe from the sun and the heat when out and about (he’s 8 months old). Any tips or guidance would be appreciated!

A rechargeable stroller fan?

Avatar

We have a rechargeable stroller fan from Amazon that we’ve taken to Disney twice now and she wasn’t even breaking a sweat in her stroller. We also put sunscreen on her especially her legs and keep the cover over her and make sure she’s eating and drinking plenty. We also live in central florida so we dress her for how hot it’s going to be outside.

It's finally hit over 90⁰ were I live.

I make sure the car is cool before putting my daughter in the car. This helps so much, especially if we haven't gone anywhere during the day, until later. She wears tank tops and shorts, and dresses. Sunscreen everyday, even when not swimming because she's got her dad's ginger hair and pale skin. I have a sunshade in the car on the window.

For the stroller I have a portable wrap around fan and one in the car just in case.

Sunscreen up, 15 minutes before sun exposure! Baby hats!:) if old enough, popsicles are great with supervision!☺️

Shade is better than sunscreen at that age because of the chemicals. If you can't get shade then use a baby safe sunscreen!

Shade if possible, but if in the water we use either badger baby sunblock or thinkbaby sunblock. Lots of fluids. If I notice baby starting to get too warm I take them inside. Sunshades for the car. Bucket hats or hats in general to protect their little head from the sun. Dress them as you would yourself.
