Placenta Encapsulation

What does everyone think about Placenta Encapsulation? Has anyone tried it and NOT recommended it? I'm due in July and after doing some research, I'm quite keen to try it. It's certainly not cheap so I wonder if it's worth it 🤔

I talk to my doctor and my doulas, they said there’s not really enough evidence to prove that its beneficial and also there is risk. I personally decided against it part of my reason is the placenta is a filter for toxins for the baby and still contains those toxins after.

I'm not going to do it, I have a friend who did and said it was great but she didn't know any different to be honest, it's not like she could compare it to another birth recovery as that was her first. She also had a really easy pregnancy so it may have just meant her body would always have recovered well with or without it. I agree with the above points about toxins as well, it's technically a waste product really, I know there's meant to be benefits to consuming it but unless you directly compare it to a previous birth, I'm not sure if you'd actually know if it was making any difference or not as all women feel completely different anyway. One thing I am doing though is delayed cord clamping but that's a completely different thing!

I LOVED mine.
I did it with my second as I had baby blues with my first (not pnd but hormones up and down) I made a point of saving up when I was pregnant ascom yes it’s not cheap but I highly recommend it.
With my second i hardly had up and downs. I felt like I could take on the world. I had much more energy. Def needed with a three year old at home too.

The only negative was I felt great and wanted to get up and about asap but my body wasn’t ready. I should have listened to that more than my mind thinking I could.
Happy if you have any questions to answer or recommend who I went with x

I don’t believe there’s any evidence that it’s helpful or beneficial. Personally I don’t know that I would trust a company to haul off a biohazardous discarded organ and keep it from rotting, and then treat it and turn it into pills and then give it back to me. I’d be afraid of further contamination from their machinery, and honestly you don’t even know that you’re even getting placenta in those pills, let alone getting YOUR placenta.
Overall it’s one of those trendy things that has no proven evidence behind it, and it’s just a big money grab in my opinion.

Thank you ladies for all your comments 😊 It's so interesting to get get your views.

I've been blessed to have a good pregnancy so far so might recover well anyway. But, as a first time mum, there are so much uncertainty and worries postpartum. And I want to make sure I will be mentally and physically well enough to look after my little girl.

Thanks again and wishing those who are pregnant a safe and smooth labour 🤞
