Postpartum preeclampsia

Just got diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia… which apparently is a thing. Now stuck in hospital with a week old baby. Has anyone heard of this?

I had this and also didn’t know it happened AFTER birth. It was really hard looking after a baby, especially as I was a bit delirious/ not quite with it. Hope you’re doing ok x

Yes I had it, few hours after giving birth to my twin boys. Not an pre eclampsia but an eclampsia 😥 it started with that I couldn't see and hear properly, followed by epileptic seizures and loosing my consciousness. Later they found out that due to the contractions and pushing (and high blood pressure) I had some small brain bleedings causing all this... I had to lay on an intensive care unit for about 3 days. Was not allowed to see my babies (laying on NICU) or even to express milk... On day 4 I started to feel better, was allowed to see my boys and finally to pump some milk for them.
All the best for you! You must feel so miserable but be happy that they found out 🤍

I had it, the day we were getting ready to leave my BP spiked. I just had to stay in the hospital an extra night. My only symptoms was super high BP, I didn’t have the blurry vision or any of the others. My BP was back to normal by the time we went to my sons 2 week appt! Hoping yours isn’t too intense 🤍

Wow,, thanks for this post.!! Now I know why my vision was a bit blurry and I couldn't hear properly first week after birth of my baby.. anyway I mentioned it to my Gp and he did my BP which was all fine. Am ok now..

This is scary that so many women are unaware of post natal pre-eclampsia. As part of our discharge talks and PN assessments where I’ve worked it’s always been a big part of our discussion!

I do hope they start telling us what to look out for. I went to my OB for a one week check cause I had signs of preeclampsia while pregnant. I was induced cause of it and I was told I’ll be fine. But the symptoms were still there after a week. Just spent 24 hrs in hospital and I’m on bed rest

ugh I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine being separated that long from my newborn. I was lucky and they let me keep baby with me. Except when I had the MRI for blood clots in the brain. I hope all is better now for you!
