Help me solve a logistical conundrum with toddler

Hi, looking for some problem-solving on this one… I’m mum to a (terrible) two year old and newborn. Two year old is back at nursery next week, and I’m worried about getting him and newborn in and out safely as it’s on-street parking next to a road. Toddler is unpredictable and pretty strong, I’m worried he’d run off. Often when we leave nursery I end up having to carry him out of the door into the car because he’s being uncooperative and running away from me. Possible solutions are : 1. Newborn in baby carrier and toddler holds my hand (I’d possibly invest in reigns for extra safety) however it’d be tricky to get his shoes on and off on arrival with a baby in the carrier. Also I’d have to get her out her car seat roadside which isn’t super safe. 2. Newborn in pram, toddler holding my hand, but I’d have less control as I’d be pushing a pram. It’s also a pain getting our bulky pram in and out of the car for a sake of 30 metres. 3. I leave newborn in her car seat in the car for 5 minutes while I pop into the nursery with her brother. This would be logistically the easiest solution but I don’t think I’d feel comfortable. 4. I carry newborn in her car seat (it’s so heavy) and hold toddler’s hand. If you have any suggestions I’d be so grateful. I suppose I’m overthinking it but it’s stressing me out 😬

I am about to be in this boat, if you come up with a solution please let me know haha! I was thinking to maybe put backpack reins on my son for these times when I need to juggle them both like mad haha

Hi Saskia, so the solution that’s working best for me is number 2: pram and toddler walking. He’s been surprisingly obedient up to now and will hold onto the pram as we walk into nursery. He seems to have integrated that cars can be dangerous. I have my baby in the car seat on the street side as it’s a bit trickier getting her out. The whole thing takes a while with getting the pram in and out of the car but it’s safe and relatively stress-free

Can you put newborn in carrier and put toddler in a pram?

Or a double pram? I’m about to have the same problem. I thought about putting the newborn in the car seat/pram first, then the toddler in the pram.
