This weather is great until you have a 10 week old 🫠.

What id do to be in a beer garden right now instead Im inside with my 10 week old wearing the only thing that fits which is black leggings and a baggy top. Trying to keep him cool and happy. Trying to keep my 2.5year old from not going mental outside and actually coming out of the sun. All while my partners in Spain on a rugby tour and I just want to sit in the sun and tan with a nice cold alcoholic drink 🫠

TV vs 90s/00s TV

i’m so passionate about this subject i hate that tv isn’t how it used to be and i hate the changes that are happening
I think it’s such a shame that TV then used to be real TV real props/scenes rather than animated or cgi stuff,
it used to be calm slow paced and we were offered less of it because there was no such thing as streaming services back then
and now you’ve got Netflix Disney YouTube BBC iPlayer and you get given anything you want to watch, whenever, for however long u want, i just think it’s so sad because now my children they do watch this kind of stuff that’s fast paced and bright colours and music playing in the background and loads of things going on in one scene it’s just overstimulating there are not many shows that aren’t overstimulating and it’s so hard to avoid them even so

Talking

Hey guys I feel like I’m failing my daughter, I feel like she is so far behind all the other kids her age. She’s having trouble with colors and letters. She knows a couple of her ABCs but then gives up when she has to try. I’ve bought different tracing tools and books. She has no interest. She just ends up getting frustrated and has a meltdown. I’m a SAHM so the guilt of her not understanding it eating me up. Do you guys have any tips? I’m thinking about making a “school corner” for her.

Screen Time Use (aside from TV)

I let my 7- and 10-year old kids use the iPad within limits. They like to play Minecraft. I’m curious what other apps are popular and would you recommend it? I’ve heard of Roblox.

We've got a pass that we can take 1 other adult and up to 3 other kiddos. I have an 11mo boy and just found out we're expecting again, would love to connect with other faith based mommas

First Birthday

What are people buying their babies for the first birthdays? I have no idea what to buy my daughter 😂 she doesn’t crawl/stand so was thinking of something to help encourage that, but I don’t really know where to start or look. Would prefer some nice wooden toys rather than plastic

Is it just me or are kids' places immorally priced?

$20 for my 2 year old to play in some sand for ONE HOUR?! Are you out of your mind?! It's even worse if I have 3 kids! Am I missing something? How do these people sleep at night?! I'm sure it's the same situation where it just takes a few bad apples to ruin it for everybody. They have to price it with the worst kids in mind (most destructive/messy). And doesn't it seem ethical to give military discounts across-the-board? Let's take it easy on the moms/dads with spouses overseas! I'm sorry to post this, I just have nobody to talk to/share my gripes with.

College mama

I am pregnant with my second baby, and I have three year old baby girl. I am attending full time 4 year college, to become a teacher. I am doing remotely classes in the fall and in person in spring . I’m giving birth on October .

Does any one of you have any advice on managing time and such.

Please don’t judge I know it’s crazy idea and I’m only 27 years old ( I know some of you might be wondering why the hell I am going to college so late but the truth is I didn’t know or didn’t get well educated on what I really wanted to do) I have now want to be a teacher really bad.

Teaching help.

Hey, are there any teachers or TAs that could give some advice please?

My almost 4yr (autistic) son has to stay home for a few weeks off of school so I was hoping to add some structure to his day by doing some fun learning with him. My husband and I have thought of the following-

Drawing the alphabet and numbers on the chalkboard
Following patterns with toys
Reading books together (that’s a hard one)
Helping me with small tasks like tidying up
Water play

I’m rubbish at this kinda thing so any advice would be great

Just scribbling still?

Anyone else's child still just scribbling for drawings?
She does the odd circle and has good hand control but just doesn't seem bothered. She also doesn't know the alphabet but has incredible vocabulary - also just doesn't seem bothered!
Can write her letter of her first name only. Easily frustrated

I keep seeing pictures of kids artwork at 3 of people!

Toddler classes

So when I was on maternity leave I did baby sensory, baby massage and other classes to give us some structure to our days.
I made loads of great friends too ☺️

However now we’re all back at work I don’t get to see my pals anymore. Plus the days I am at home it’s turned into more doing errands with my daughter.

I only work three days a week and I think if I see our local park or library one more time I’m going to scream! I want our fun days back.

What classes are you currently enjoying with your toddler? For reference she’s 19 months, walks well and is really trying hard to talk.

Recommendations for teaching toddlers about private parts and keeping their bodies safe? 1yr boy and 3yr girl

Trigger warning for CSA no judgements please. I was a victim of CSA and incest which has made it very hard to me to trust my own judgements in how to properly teach them to keep their bodies safe. I get very anxious around the topic and end up avoiding it or keeping it very brief. I don't think I'm able to teach them by just talking to them, I'm looking for recommendations for maybe books, songs, or anything that can help me get through the subject with them because even googling and looking for myself makes me feel uncomfortable and uneasy, I'd feel better just looking into what other parents recommend.
