Do you think kids are sat down too much all day at school?

It seems weird and unnatural to me that young kids especially are expected to sit for so many hours at school. It seems like a long day to expect a child of that age to be sat concentrating and not moving.

Bad idea or good idea?
Going to Europe (Paris, Amsterdam, etc) (1-2weeks) with a 2,5 year old?

It’s been my dream for years. We were booked to go but then Covid hit, now we have a child. My husband thinks we have to go while we have money and availability. And I think spending so much money and going on a non-vacation (because it won’t be fun or easy with a 2,5yo) is a waste of money?

Has anyone done it?

Drawings

Can I see your 3 year olds drawing? I can’t tell if my LG is really good for 3 or not, I just remember her brothers couldn’t draw like this till mid reception

1st birthday gift ideas

My neice is turning 1 and I need some gift ideas, something special if possible. Due to having an older brother she has a lot of things already like trike, bouncy castle etc. She’s also walking and independent so doesn’t need walkers etc.

What do you think about this?

I’m a little nervous about this.. my mil wants to take my daughter overnight on a Disney trip for her and fil birthdays, my daughter hasn’t ever spent the night over at their house. We’re not far so it’s weird that hasn’t happened, before she turned 1 they were always like “soon” or “you get a little bit older and you can spend the night.” She’s 18 months now and still hasn’t spent the night, again we’re not far so it’s a little weird that it hasn’t happened yet. But now in 2 weeks they want to take her on this trip overnight and we’re 2 hours or so away from Disney, so if she doesn’t settle or something then I’ll have to drive 2 or more hours away to help out or bring my daughter home. At first I was so excited, I haven’t had a night alone since she was born, I know that should be typical when you have a child but I still got excited with the thought of it. But now thinking about it I think we need to try a trail run before at their house, depending on how they all act then we’ll go by that for the Disney trip. Thoughts?

Toy rotations

Anyone with a 4-5 year old plus - do you still do toy rotations?
I’ve noticed my almost 5 year old doesn’t play with any of her toys anymore - she just wants to draw or be outside.
I’ll do a toy clear out as there’s a few things she’s probably grown out of (little people Disney castle for example 😭😭) but she has some lovely toys - Disney princesses, sylvanian, Bluey, mailed etc.
I have tried to encourage her to play with them but I find imaginative play quite tricky and so does she so we’re not a good match!!
She has an ikea tofast unit in her room so I thought maybe once a week or every few days I could set up a toy for her to play with??
Any other suggestions would be great.

What do you do with your baby all day?

I need some ideas of what to do with my 7 month old. He’s crawling and standing and a very busy boy. He does not like the car seat (working on that) but I’m still open to options outside of the house as well.

Following other children at park

My son always wants to join in games with big children at the park and loves watching them play and trying to copy. He’s also started to follow children around and just stare at them. Does anyone else’s do this? I’ve tried to explain that you can go up to them and ask them if they want to play but they might not always want to and that’s ok. For example today, he left the gated park following a group of 4/5 year old boys into the playing field. I don’t want to be a helicopter parent but I felt I had to follow as they were quite a bit older, far away and the boys were just ignoring my son 😭 I tried to say to him that I will play with him and he said ‘go away mummy 😭😭’ Am I a helicopter parent?! Basically at 2 years, how do you find the balance of letting them go do their own thing and also not being a 🚁 ? How far do you let your child go before you follow at the park? I could be over thinking this but I’m tired today 🤪

Opinions please!

Would 6 months old be too young to send my baby to my parents for 1 night? I want to go and see Noah Kahan in November but he’s only in London or Manchester which would have to be a night away. But worried 6m might be too young for a night away! What does everyone think?

Where to go

It’s my partner and little boy birthday in May - we are wanting to go away but only for 3 nights (due to work etc)

Any recommendations would help either in England or a 1/2hr flight

We would fly from London or Birmingham

We are Oxfordshire area for traveling in England but again only a 1/2hr car ride

Entertaining 2 year old

How are we keeping our 2 year olds entertained at home. He doesn’t really play with his toys or if he does it’s for about 2 mins. Im sad to admit he’s had a bit too much screen time lately due to partner working away and tending to baby too and I’ve noticed the change in his behaviour due to it. Wanting ways to keep him engaged and entertained that are easy as have baby too. Any ideas 🩵🥰

Holiday suggestions - 3 year old and 10 month old

We would like to do a lovely all inclusive holiday in September with our 10 month old and 3 year old. Ideally not a really long flight considering their ages and would a bit of luxury as it will be to celebrate my 30th. Any recommendations? Thank you
