I solo parent for at least 10 hours a day six days a week, and feel extremely guilty any time I put my 3 month old daughter in front of the screen.
If she is ever in front of it, it’s no longer than five minutes just so I can go to the loo, sort her bottles out or make her a bottle.
However, after reading the impact of what a screen can do to such a young mind, it makes me feel awful putting her in front of it.
I guess what I’m asking is, does anyone else seem to be in the same situation or similar. If so how do you deal with the guilt of it (if any)?
Also if anyone has any recommendations on how to keep my daughter entertained during wake windows it would be extremely appreciated, as all I seem to be doing is singing and playing with instruments.
Thank you:)

I am a solo Mum, I feel like this advice doesn’t consider women in our situation. My son loves Shaun the Sheep and this is what allows me to shower, wash his bottles and do the odd cleaning bits. I also play with him throughout the day too balance it out but I’m so sorry I’m putting on Shaun the Sheep or a David Attenborough documentary when I need to get shit done 😂

I have a similar problem and my boys wake windows are so long! Sometimes putting on YouTube videos of the sea or ducks or something helps take some of the guilt off because he’s seeing real things rather than “brainrot”. Or sometimes even taking him with me to wash bottles, make dinner etc he loves watching me do the nose random things from his bouncer. And if you don’t have one already I’d say get a baby gym. Absolute life saver!

Im pretty sure a lot of the research is centered around fast paced content like tiktoks and most of the new kids programs. Have you tried things like videos of aquariums? I believe there's videos of fish that are specifically for babies. That should be enough to hold their attention! Or you could get a light projector. I could sit my daughter infront of a lamp and she'd be happy for a good while haha

My boy is 3m & we watch tv together he probably can't see much but its cold rainy windy. We go for a walk atleast once a day , do tummy time, play but sometimes you do need to chill & im not going to sit with no tv on just because of a no screens rule x

I dont know what ild do without tv.
Pleaseeee be honest because I’ve heard so many contradictions, does sucking thumb mess up toddlers teeth in future? If yes, how do I stop him doing it!?

For context I am a fully qualified early years teacher and I am more than competent in teaching and looking after my daughter.
We recently got a confirmation that our daughter can start nursery in 2028. (She will be 2) however I’ve realised I’m not comfortable with this (history of working in nursery’s and knowing what happens behind the scenes) and also I can simply do it all myself and I am happy to.
My husband tells me that he wants her to start nursery then and not stay home and let me care for her because she needs to go to nursery. I don’t understand why he would rather send her to be cared for by random people when I’m a stay at home mum and qualified to do it myself.
I also don’t really see how he gets much of a say in it (outside of just a general opinion) as it doesn’t affect him at all whether she is home with me or at nursery as I’ll be doing it all anyway? And he will be saving money if she doesn’t go…
Parents who have not sent their child to nursery can you comment experiences.

Hi mums. I would really appreciate some advice. Sometimes i think i tolerate too much and i would like to find out how other mums would handle this situation. To cut a long story short, my husband works for his friend. Eversince he started working for his friend we have had many disagreements. I support my husband and i want the best for him. He does alot for this job and gets paid a minimum wage. There are other friends in the work place which resulted in my husband coming home late most days as they would spend time together after work or entertaining clients. This friend also opened another business so my husband assists him there at times. This job requires my husband to go on unpaid work trips. I’ve fought with him before mentioning that these work trips are not worth it as he doesn’t get paid for them and we need the finance desperately. What he gets out of it is free flights, accommodation and food. Now these work trips are requiring him to go overseas. I am a stay at home mum that runs her business from home. I contribute in the home where i can. I have 3 children and no help. I attend to everything in the home. My husband is mostly at work or spending time with his friends. I’ve stopped complaining as i’ve tried to rather support him thinking that the financial situation would change but it hasn’t and gone worse. My quality of life has dropped and in return my husband has received the latest phone, a car and expensive clothes from his friend. I feel like my husband is perishing from working for his friend but my kids and i not. I might sound selfish in this post but i am up for hearing how i should handle this. He has recently told me that his friend wants him to go with clients over seas and it’s made me feel sick as it comes with no pay. Are husbands with children out there taking free work trips? Is this a thing? Please note that i am left at home with no help and 3 children and not in a very good financial situation. I’ve never complained but it isn’t easy. I just feel like it isn’t worth it. I’ve begged him to look for a better job where the salary is worth it but he seems comfortable working for his friend. It’s affecting my mental health and i just don’t understand how my husband is going on unpaid work trips??

I am 36 and about to have my 3rd baby. The father and I didn't work out. I'm feeling pretty down about that tonight & idk how to lift myself up from it. I am almost 40 and have never had anyone actually choose me and love me and at this point I dont think I will ever feel that. Each of my kids have different fathers, the first isnt involved at all, the second is sporadically involved, and the third hasn't been there for me throughout this entire pregnancy. He's been around sure, but its only for the baby. He never actually chose to care about me. I'm just tired. Tired of always being dismissed or walked away from. Tired of having to spend this life fighting and surviving. Tired of not having anyone to turn to for support. I have no friends and hardly any family. I just feel so alone. & idk who is going to want me after having three children with three different fathers, plus having a newborn at 36 years old. . I just want it to end already.

Health visitor has recommended for me to start giving my baby lunch. 5/7 days of the week we are usually out when I’ll be giving her lunch. Has anyone got any ideas on what to feed my baby when out?
So far I’ve seen pinwheels, yogurt and fruit ect.
