Feeling deflated

For context I am a fully qualified early years teacher and I am more than competent in teaching and looking after my daughter.
We recently got a confirmation that our daughter can start nursery in 2028. (She will be 2) however I’ve realised I’m not comfortable with this (history of working in nursery’s and knowing what happens behind the scenes) and also I can simply do it all myself and I am happy to.
My husband tells me that he wants her to start nursery then and not stay home and let me care for her because she needs to go to nursery. I don’t understand why he would rather send her to be cared for by random people when I’m a stay at home mum and qualified to do it myself.
I also don’t really see how he gets much of a say in it (outside of just a general opinion) as it doesn’t affect him at all whether she is home with me or at nursery as I’ll be doing it all anyway? And he will be saving money if she doesn’t go…

Parents who have not sent their child to nursery can you comment experiences.

I feel like he does get a say in that he is an equal parent. He’s probably heard people saying how essential nursery is etc and thinks it’s the right thing to do. So I wouldn’t dismiss him out of hand and tell him he doesn’t get a say, I’d just sit down with him and talk through the reasons that you don’t think it’s the right fit for your family. Maybe you could agree to wait until she is 3 and able to talk in more detail about what she gets up to and (assuming you’re in the UK) you would then be using funded hours rather than paying for it. I’m a SAHM and we now have our daughter (3.5) in a couple of mornings a week and she loves it. Nursery to me isn’t really about teaching, I haven’t needed any qualifications to look after my daughter at home, to me it’s about the social aspect. I don’t think it’s necessary but attending has really helped my daughter come out of her shell, she has made some little friends and talks about them, it’s really lovely.

I’m also a SAHM and won’t be sending my daughter to nursery or school. I plan to home educate.
You can 100% fulfil social needs for children through playgroups and groups that aren’t nursery.
Even with funded hours it costs money as you pay for the extras regardless.
For me I’d rather her be with me than with strangers. My parents used to run a Day nursery so I have no issue with the concept if it works for your family but I also believe she’s safer with me.

Why don’t you ask him to read the research that says the benefits of being cared for by a single primary caregiver massively outweigh shared stranger care provision for young children. You can't get that time back and he is being selfish, ignorant of the research and controlling from an uniformed position. It is funny that it's work when you pay a random to do it but he dismisses its value when you want to do it. Where parents have to work or feel they need a break from parenting that's one thing, but I'm curious why depriving of you and your little one of this once in a lifetime experience matters so much to him.

Am I wrong?

My husband the past 2 days has come home from work after being gone all day and as soon as he comes in the door says he’s going upstairs to work on his leg that has been tight and aching. And left me to get the kids dinner, and do their whole bed time routine alone because it’s taken that long for him to do his stuff. When I had a problem with it he acted like I’m the bad guy because “he’s been gone all day and not had a minute to himself”. Am I wrong for being upset???

Feeling pretty down tonight

I am 36 and about to have my 3rd baby. The father and I didn't work out. I'm feeling pretty down about that tonight & idk how to lift myself up from it. I am almost 40 and have never had anyone actually choose me and love me and at this point I dont think I will ever feel that. Each of my kids have different fathers, the first isnt involved at all, the second is sporadically involved, and the third hasn't been there for me throughout this entire pregnancy. He's been around sure, but its only for the baby. He never actually chose to care about me. I'm just tired. Tired of always being dismissed or walked away from. Tired of having to spend this life fighting and surviving. Tired of not having anyone to turn to for support. I have no friends and hardly any family. I just feel so alone. & idk who is going to want me after having three children with three different fathers, plus having a newborn at 36 years old. . I just want it to end already.

First birthday

Has anyone started thinking about what they’re doing for their little ones first birthday? We were going to do a party but because I’ll have only just gone back to work we just can’t really afford it. Obviously we want to do something special. We live in Staffordshire if anyone has any ideas!
