Smelly Baby Hands

Hi ladies! My 6-week old baby boy always has his hands in fists, and when you open them, his skin is kind of peeling off inside, smells, and seems moist. Spoke to my health Visitor about it and she said it’s normal but want to see if anyone else has experienced this as I’m still concerned about it?❤️ Sorry for terrible photo - so hard to get him to open his hands 😂

Totally normal. When my boy was a newborn his hands and feet were always sweaty and smelly and had fluff in them always. Will go away eventually. It stopped i think when he was probs 4-6months old x

My little boys hands were always like this, just give them a good wash when he has a bath, his hands have opened up now he's 6 months, doesn't get fluff or any smell on them anymore x

Same here! I wipe them morning and night and try to get the fluff out of his wee clenched hands🤣 it’s a wonder where it comes from!!

I found it easier to dip my little one's hands in a bowl of warm soapy water and give them a good clean with a flannel a few times a day. Make sure you dry them fully too. I found wipes/ just wiping wasn't effective and I gave him a bath every other day.

Sat here with my baby boy and all I can smell is his stinky hands and I’ve got the wet wipes on them twice 🤢

Yeah all normal as stated above, a little bit of baby soap in water on a wash cloth will help take away that sweaty smell! Same with babes feet!

My son is the same. I need to wash his hands everyday so it doesn't get really bad

so normal! we used to say he had stinky feet hands 😅 also the peeling is just baby’s skin getting used to an environment that is not fully liquid - totally normal

My baby had this when he was a baby🥹 I used try and get them open in the bath or just try with a wet one if I couldn’t🫢, makes me miss my newborn🥲

It's normal. I use a wipe or warm face cloth with some baby soap and wash my sons hands. My son has his hands in his mouth too.

it still blows my
mind that in other countries new moms get health visitors

Q-tips have really helped me clean his hands each day, that sweat build up from the clenched hand just stinks 😷

I’m having this same problem. My boy had just found his hands and has started sucking them all the time. His hands stink! I’m constantly trying to wipe them. Smell like cheese 😂 assuming it’s milk from his mouth and saliva that drying on them but it is gross
