Potty training with a speech delay

Hi 👋🏼 My daughter is 2.5yrs but has a speech delay so doesn’t really communicate with us much. She also doesn’t nod or shake her head yet. I’m hoping to potty train or begin to potty train sometime this year but I’m not sure it’s possible yet because she can’t tell me when she needs the toilet yet. Has anyone been in the same position? Any advice is welcome!!

I finished training my son when I realized that he can’t take off his pants himself:) so I will wait till summer when he actually can walk with no pants on 😂 He has a speech delay, can’t communicate, I was potty training him half year ago and each time I was sitting him, he was peeing to the potty but never asked himself. Though I trained him only a week. Will do it again in summer time

So maybe I should wait a while too. People always say there’s no use in forcing it!

I’d wait, personally. Mine is a little older and caught up after a slow start with speech, but isn’t showing some of the other signs of readiness yet. He’s perfectly happy to sit in a dirty nappy still 😬
