Thanks all! Work rang to tell me the case is someone I likely wouldn’t have had any contact with but midwifes have suggested I round off the week at home and go back in on Monday just in case. The panic during this early stage of pregnancy is driving me mad!x
If you’re on immunosuppressants for your chrons then you should avoid contact with shingles x
Contact your midwife team or gp. I had a colleague work from home for a week when chicken pox ripped around early years and ks1. Our headteacher didn't like it (she tried to bully anyone who needed considerations for pregnancy or childcare) but was forced by the union to let my colleague work from home. Colleague had never had chicken pox prior to the outbreak.
I'm a teacher too and we have chicken pox in school. I contacted my midwife and she advised if you have already had chicken pox before there is no harm to baby 😊 I'm sure shingles stem from the same virus as chicken pox. Best to phone the maternity unit to check but I think along as you've had chicken pox before you will be okay x
I work in a hospital and we had a case of shingles that was on this poor man’s face . The ward manager made it very clear that I shouldn’t go in there . Same with lots of other infections we get x
