Meal time!

My 9 month old used to do great with eating and would self feed. Now he thinks it’s a fun game to wave his hands and knock all his food on the floor for our dogs, lol. How do I promote self feeding again? 😅

Same! Minus the “for dogs” 😅.. I’ve read to stay consistent and don’t react. Sometimes they do it for our reactions. This is just a normal exploration stage. Continue to offer food and if they don’t eat it take it away calmly (don’t force to eat) and try again at a later time. And go for at least one food item you know they like. Give a snack or two before their next meal if you are worried about calorie intake.

@EmpressS yeah he loves to share with the dogs 😅😬 Thank you so much!! I will have to try all these tips. He’s definitely one that looks for a reaction lol.

Mine thinks it's a game to feed the dogs. He thinks it is so funny and he gets enjoyment when the dogs lick his hands 🫠 sometimes when he puts his arm out to act like he's going to drop the food or feed the dogs I pretend to eat from his plate and then that sometimes redirects him to his own plate and taking bites. Sometimes he just thinks it's funny so I'm playing around to see what works for my little guy. Definitely hoping that the stage passes by quickly 😂

@Larissa oh my gosh. This sounds identical to my son 😂 he will lean over the side of his high chair with a snack in his hand like he’s going to feed the dogs, laugh, then take a bite. Lol. Let me know if you figure out anything that works for you 😅

He is having a great time with food 😅. Try to have one plate for his self feeding time and game haha and an other one with you, so you can feed him while he is exploring with the other one.

@Izy I’ll try this out!! Thanks for the suggestion ☺️
