Medication while breastfeeding?
Has anyone had any experience taking ADHD medication while breastfeeding or during pregnancy? If so, how did it go?
There doesn't seem to be any conclusive research on the effects it has on BF children. I'm a bit nervous bc of the lack of data.
Usually I wouldn't take a risk like that, but I'm having so much trouble just doing simple daily tasks, let alone anything difficult. It's been going on for quite a while now and all my ADHD symptoms are exacerbated since having my LO. At this point, I just want to know if the benefits may outweigh the risks.
My first was EBF and I was looking forward to trying meds once I weaned her, but I got pregnant again and am considering whether it might be worth it to go on meds while EBF my second.
If anyone has any personal experiences with this, please share if comfortable. I'm really looking for some guidance.

My advice is to find a “Maternal Mental Health Psychiatrist” because they specialize in women that are TTC/pregnant/breastfeeding. They know the specifics on the most current studies. I have had 2 babies since being diagnosed and taking meds while nursing has been so helpful. I struggle to get daily talks done without it. It makes me a better mom and wife.

My doctor and pediatrician both said no during pregnancy but yes while breastfeeding. But I have been back on meds for 3 days now and my EBF 13 week old has never had this hard of a time sleeping. I’m hoping it’s not related but it’s looking like I have to come back off meds.
