Looking for some help!
Had my little one in the local urgent care centre today as she’d come out in this rash type on her back, legs, underarms
They’ve said it’s her eczema flare up but I’m just not entirely satisfied with that - she’s never had eczema that’s looked like this ever
Any one any ideas?

Learn more about our guidelines.they haven’t given her anything just told us to use the creams she already has and make sure we’re putting them on minimum 12 times a day (she isn’t even awake for 12 hours in a day but yanno) 🤦🏻♀️
They said they’d give steroids if the skin wasn’t broken but because it is they can’t
How long did it take for your little ones to settle down 🥺poor little love x

We put double base cream then waited 30 mins then hydrocortisone then fucidic acid morning and night. Plus double base cream as much as needed throughout the day. The DB cream sorted it on its own before but for this flare up we got HC. It got better after a week but it keeps coming back in sections. We think it’s the cold and her skin being dry.

Sorry to bump in can you please send a picture of the double base cream you use I want to ask my GP to prescribe for my daughter as cetraben doesn't do anything isn't moisturising enough also with steroids we were told by dermatologist to wean off so one week apply twice daily then week two apply once daily then stop when you use for just one week and stop it's a shock to the skin that's why comes back bad.

Thank you I completely understand it's so so hard especially on the face my daughter has been struggling with sleep because the itching keeps her up we haven't had a good night since December so since last year😅 last week we ended up going private and the steroids the dermatologist recommended are: Dactacort ointment 30g for face (x2/day
for one week then x1/day for one week) dermol 500 as soap, Dermol 600 bath emollient,
Cetraben cream 500g emollient. After 2 weeks GP to initiate 0.03% tacrolimus
ointment twice daily for 4-6 weeks but the GP adviced against this tacrolimus as isn't suitable for under 2 still waiting for dermatologist to get back to us with alternative or explanation of potential side effects ect. Thankfully so far we're still in first week but they are working wonders going to drop to one application next week and then stop and see how we go. We are using child's farm instead of centroben as my daughter didn't like centroben was stinging her

Bless her, they work so well short term don’t they. When she started scratching and making her face and back of her knees bleed I went to GP and tried the steroids. They said they become a problem if you use them for months. We’ve been using the leftovers after the two weeks advised but after your comment and reading up on the side effects I will just stop them completely and maybe try a dermatologist as well. Long term thinning of the skin, inability of the skin to produce immunity. Lymphoma - all just very scary. I would go with their recommendation 12 times a day of the moisturising cream or every two hours when they’re awake, moisturising before and after bath, using lukewarm water and looking into diet specially around flare ups (dairy, peanuts, etc).

you can ask the gp or buy bandages for when she sleeps, my eldest had it and the itching is heartbreaking. Also double base is fantastic but you can also ask for them to prescribe more than one type of cream. We used db in summer (because I was worried about the thicker cream causing sunburn) and a thicker cream (like coco butter consistency) during the winter to help with the skin drying out (sorry I don’t remember the name but will see if it’s in his red book for you)

Yes definitely I was completely against steroids to begin with but her skin kept weeping and getting infected and the GP would only give steroids I really hope this stuff works as I can't go back to over a month of no sleep for baby and me was horrible 😭😭 we were moisturising every 15mins and her skin still felt so dry
Sorry to come back to this
Just to say my little one today has been diagnosed with eczema herpeticum which has required antiviral medication
Just to say if you’re not completely happy with little ones skin push for another opinion! :(
