No but I would if I had the opportunity

My sister is currently almost 12 weeks and she doesn’t want any kids so my husband and I said we would adopt it…just didn’t know the process

I haven’t. But if they want you to adopt the baby you will want to have them sign their parental rights to you, not just custody. Unless that’s what works best for all of you. You can take over legal guardianship or you can adopt them but there’s a difference.

I am the youngest of my siblings so would never have the chance but my husband and I discussed using his brother as a sperm donor at one point in our journey but it was awkward even talking about it so we didn't go with that option.

My partner and I adopted my sister-in-law’s boy. Situation was different than yours but eventually she was cooperative and there at the courthouse for the hearing. With kinship adoptions you can skip some hurdles and it can be cheaper. Make sure you and sis agree how often she will see him and/or get updates. You have to think about what is best for your child. Every situation is different.

my sister In law

Not sibling but my cousin’s son (in progress now)

Can you explain the process to me?

I got a call and baby was dropped off. Then later the paperwork and DCFS visits bi weekly

I would contact an adoption lawyer just to find out what the process would be like. It can be drastically different in every state.

Hi I am in the process of adopting my niece (my sisters baby)

I’m currently adopting my brothers child
