I have both, still awaiting physio and i was referred at 10weeks pregnant due to having to early as 4th child has it with all my other kiddies too. From previous pregnancies you get a belt, they teach you a couple of exercises and how it’s best to get in and out of bed and recommend and pillow between the knees for sleep. Paracetamol and wheat bags help. PGP is more pain at front of vagina in the honey bit and SPG hip pain, waddling as pain when walking (this is just my experience of it). I ended up on crutches with my first pregnancy and was around a week away from a wheelchair but baby arrived early, was on bed rest for the other two pregnancies so was more about managing pain and getting in and out of bed for loo, this pregnancy it’s been steady all way through getting worse now at 27 weeks so i’ve just had an emergency referral done in hopes it speeds things up but honestly don’t see it helping anything anyway. Oh and a birthing ball will help with sitting rather than a chair

@Fran thank you so much! I’ve got a physio appointment tomorrow it’s in the front and in my hips too! My hips have started to click and the pain at the front is unbearable at the moment even hurts when I’m not doing anything, feels like I’m going to get to the point where I’m not going to be able to walk, hope things get sorted for you! It’s so horrible x

@Amber Bless you sounds like you have both. Yes the grinding of the bones in the hips is horrendous and a sign of SPG. Take things steady, it sadly does pretty much always get worse. If your working id advise speaking to HR about a health and safety type review as certain things will be unbearable or make it worse like standing for long periods, sitting for long periods lots of walking/ stairs etc xx

@Fran I know! I’m hoping I get enough support from the hospital, I’ll find out tomorrow, I’m a full time care worker! So I’m hoping the hospital will right something to say I can’t do any heavy lifting or long shifts going to work is killing me atm! I’m gonna get them to review my risk assessment so hopefully nothing too I don’t have to do anything too straining xx

@Amber oh gosh yeah you deffo can’t be lifting people. I wasn’t even allowed to be lifting my toddlers. If it gets that bad they will sign you off, I ended up on crutches like i say in my first pregnancy and that was at like 28weeks and then was due to go for wheelchair fitting at 33 weeks but baby arrived at 34weeks after waters breaking so i as cancelled x

It's the same thing, just a different clinical term for the same condition x

PGP is SPD. However, SPD only referred to pain around the pubic bone area which does not reflect the condition and possibly stopped some ladies getting help. The physio will go through what it is as well as useful tips for muscle exercises, getting in and out of bed, turning in bed, sitting down, getting in and out of chairs. Basically anything you are struggling with. If you are using a support belt take it with you so they can check you are wearing it correctly too
