Chemical - tell GP?

Looking for some advice. I had a faint positive test on Saturday (first response) and then took a clear blue digital weeks test on Sunday which was negative. By Sunday evening I started cramping and had some spotting but woke up today (Monday) more period like bleeding and bad cramp and have been on and off all day. I’m assuming this is a chemical pregnancy now as feels too bad to be implantation or anything positive. Should I speak to my GP or just let it run it’s course? Should I retest soon just to check levels have gone down? Feeling quite down even though it was just one day and a faint line 😔

If you're already getting neg test after the positive I wouldn't worry about the levels. It's more so if you don't get a neg that it's something to look into. But you can always talk to your gp especially if you are trying to get pregnant. It'll give you a good feel on where your Dr stands on chemicals and such. And it'll be documented if you continue to have chemicals going forward and eventually come up with a plan to have a successful pregnancy in the future.

Thank you. Hubby and I are just seeing how it goes for now but would like to get pregnant soon so I think it might be good idea. Thank you - really helpful.

My OBGYN was very understanding about my chemical pregnancy and documented it, but I just had a visit with my primary care doc and she said that a chemical pregnancy is basically “not a thing”. So don’t be discouraged if your PCP/GP is not very sympathetic. This is the American medical system so not sure if it’s different in other countries though

Thank you - that’s reassuring

I started to have a CP miscarriage today and saw the GP who is sending me for a scan to check all is ok as we having been having fertility treatment but fell naturally! She wanted to check it’s not done any damage.

Ah thank you. I’m thinking I better give them a call - just finding the time (and somewhere to do it) with busy work

Sorry to hear you’re going through this though. I hope you’re ok in the end x
