How to teach LO to fall asleep in their cot?

We’ve always rocked her to sleep (since I stopped breastfeeding her to sleep) and then transferred her to her cot. However, since a whole load of illness and teething, her sleep has been disrupted and she wakes anytime between 11pm-4am crying - but once we have her calm and back to sleep, we only have to start gently putting her back in the cot for her to kick off and absolutely refuse to go in it. I’ve had to co-sleep the last three weeks once she wakes during the night so we can all get some sleep but now she’s refusing to even be put in the cot at the start of bedtime. Online advice says going to sleep while being rocked then waking up in a different place can cause problems so try getting them to fall asleep in the cot - but how??! Any advice/tips?

We have ended up co sleeping for the last part of the night for a while, and like you she wakes if we put her in the cot. I actually think it the fact, we have to lift her up over the bars and then lower her down that is waking, as as soon as shes back on the bed straight to sleep without one of us. We are thinking of switching her to a bed, so we can lay with her on their until she falls asleep and then slip away

So when we stop breastfeeding I got into this trend as well it's actually what I did with I have cuddles read her story turned off her stars and second night I told her I love her and good night and put the cot awake then I stayed in the room but quiet and gradually I moved towards the door and worked over few nights to just actually leave the room it was difficult there were two years from her and me but we got there after a week and now I can literally say goodnight put her in the cot and tell her I love her leave the room and she will put herself to sleep within 20 minutes x

We’re having the same issue this past week, he’s sound asleep on us in the rocking chair but as soon as we stand to transfer he’s aware and won’t go in his cot so he’s ended up in our bed…where he falls asleep straight away 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve tried starting him off in his cot but he won’t even entertain it 😩 he is going through some separation anxiety at the moment and is particularly clingy to me so I also think that’s playing a part in it x

We went and are still going through a similar thing. Every time we put him in his cot he would wake. So we turned it into a bed. Now we will sit with him u til he falls asleep. So we have cracked that part just now need to sneak out of the room gradually so he will settle himself. The major problem I have is that he wakes in the night several times so I end up putting him in bed with us. Just wish I knew why he woke up so much?! Even I’m out bed he still wants milk

Myself and partner was rocking our twin girls every single night and we started to just put them in their room and they had a little cry and fell to sleep, we did this for a week and now we don’t rock them at all and they go straight to sleep xx

We used to rock / feed to sleep every night but last week I bought a pillow for my little girl and I decided to try for the first time to do book, bottle then bed while awake and I was so shocked that she went to sleep on her own!! She rolled about then groaned a bit and went to sleep and she’s done it every night this week! Now I just need to try and ditch the night bottle 😂

We had this problem too and around 14 months I just got a floor bed for her and cuddled to sleep then rolled away. So much easier, has made bedtimes quicker, middle of the night wakes easier and I often end up falling asleep in there
