Picky little eater ??

My little guy is 13months old now and from 6 months on he has always has this habit of not trying new things… I mean at all He instantly throws something new as soon as it goes near him. Example: I have tried to serve him eggs in every form since he’s been 6months… still has yet to even bring to his mouth. This is the same for many foods. I started out with intent of BLW and then we went to purée and then a mixture of both. And that’s where we still are. I’m so frustrated but also super concerned and feeling like a failure for him. He will eat whole-wheat toast with pb or hummus or a banana but won’t try or eat mashed potatoes or veggies. Won’t try meat. It’s just so so hard and I’ve been trying for months. He can’t live off toast, bananas and smoothies his whole life ?! Help, any advice or what not is super welcome. I should add that I don’t force him to try anything as I don’t want even more refusal.

I would suggest asking for referral to a feeding specialist. Your public health may have connections but a doctor will have to do a referral. It can't hurt, but it might help. Sending hugs ❤️

Things that I did with my son and it’s working. My son is exactly the same except that he eats meat but doesn’t like fish. 1) put in single bites on the tray 2) try to eat what you are giving him and chew it with open mouth so he sees you are eating the same thing. 3) if you want him to try strawberry lets say, have a bite yourself and then offer him to taste your strawberry. This trick usually works when you are holding them close 4) don’t give him toast even if he doesn’t eat anything else! When they get hungry they eat properly. 5) I personally get help from my mom to feed him new things and he accepts it! That might work for you too if someone else feeds him! Don’t give up! You sometimes need to try things 10 times for them to accept the new flavour.
