Eating out

So this might sound really daft, I went for a meal at COSMO’s in derby tonight it’s an all you can eat Buffett, I asked the chefs is it pasteurised etc they didn’t seem to have a clue which threw me off automatically… but then I asked where they get there ingredients from and they said ‘MACRO’ I would think with it being a restaurant it would be pasteurised as surely am not the only pregnant woman to have ever eaten there? I am now home and extremely stressed out worrying whether or not I have eaten something that could affect my baby. I steered clear from any sort of sea food / raw meats / deli meats etc. I had coleslaw and now also stressed that bad raw egg in. Can someone pls just reassure me that they’ve either eaten there while pregnant or know if it’s okay😅x

With meat, as long as things are properly cooked you should be fine. Not going to lie, when I have the occasional steak I have it medium to medium well at the moment so still slightly pink but I’ve been completely fine! For fish, I figure you weren’t eating anything raw and I know they say to avoid fish that’s high in mercury but I doubt a one off dinner would do much with regards to the mercury. With dairy, various cheeses are unpasteurised - you can find lists online. I honestly think you’re going to be fine from one dinner, also, it’s all just luck really when it comes to eating out - but if something tasted off or didn’t seem properly cooked I’m sure you would have been able to tell.

I’ve ate there pretty much every month of my pregnancy and have been fine so try not to worry xx

ThankYou so much for your responses! Made me feel better about it :) I know it’s too late now anyway as I’ve eaten it but I’ve had no sickness or anything to indicate I have eaten something bad ! ThankYou again xx
