Pumping

What pump do you use? Do you like it and why? Anyone have experience with the Elvie or other hands free pump?

I have the Elvie pump one and I love it and it has an app to keep track of how much you pump and tracks the time you pumped and for how long.

Love the spectra, only issue is that it has to stay plugged in I want to try the mom cozy or elvie wearable ones but haven’t got around to it yet

I use the spectra and at first I liked it but i just don’t feel like it’s emptying me anymore and I’ve changed parts and everything

@Julia come to think of it I’ve actually felt that way for the last couple of days

@Arianna I’m looking into getting a pump from WIC for the time being until I can afford something else 😩

I have mommed and spectra and love them

Elvie Stride and Spectra. I like both @Julia did you change out the membranes and the valves? I found switching to new membranes made a bigger difference than getting new valves

I use the medela in style

I use motif luna. I was able to get it through my insurance. It’s portable. I actually like it.

I’m using bellababy and I have the hands free one and the one that has cords . It’s not too expensive and it works quite well for me. .

I use the motif luna and the momcozy s12 pros, so far they both feel like they empty me out but I had to get used to them

@Alyssa I switched out everything on my pump besides the tubing😩

@Julia and @Arianna, I have the Spectra S2 Plus. How long did you guys have your Spectras before feeling the loss in effectiveness? I've only been using it for a month and noticed that I'm not completely empty after 20 minutes. I have to hand express afterward.

I splurged on the Willow 3.0 thinking it would be easy and give me cord freedom. I regret it. Has been the biggest pain in the ass (especially for the price!) and I haven’t fully figured it out yet. We decided to rent the hospital grade medela when we left the hospital so I’ve been mostly using that but are getting to the end of our 2nd month of renting and my hope is to return it and just use the Willow. Biggest goal for me right now is trying to get the hang of the Willow (if I can’t figure it out I’ll have to throw in the towel and have a big fight with them over the phone for my money back, and I don’t think I’ll be successful bc their customer service didn’t refund me for the wrong sized flange)

@Sarah I bought it too and after 3 uses the suction doesn’t work well with me and contacted customer service and they give you a list to do and try before they can give you an exchange and I’m like I have no time to do all those things and raise a newborn so I had to buy another one

@Arianna Spectra now makes versions of their pumps with a rechargeable battery so it doesn’t have to stay plugged in. I have a Spectra Gold that I’m using unplugged right now. It might be new because that version wasn’t even on their website when I ordered it through insurance.

@Susana similar experience over here! First session worked great, figure it was all good but when I tried again I couldn’t get the milk to enter the storage container- just stayed in the flange or didn’t come out at all. Finally called and they said it must be a flange size issue. Had to buy smaller sized flange inserts. I rush order them and they sent me freezer bags instead. So then I had to call again and get them to send me the thing I actually bought. And I had to extend my rental another month to compensate (another $75 expense on top of $40 in flange inserts!) So frustrating! Who has time for this?!? If it’s still not working after investing time over the next week or two I will be investing time to 1) call them and chew them out and 2) blast them on better business bureau, buy buy baby and any other place I can find. Really wish I’d gone with the Elvie. Buy buy baby also sold me on getting 21 mm flanges in addition to standard 24 mm and didn’t tell me the $20 inserts existed.

@Jax I’ve only had mine for a couple weeks bc the manual hurt, I try to hand express and message while I pump to get more out but I still don’t feel empty and I use the same one

Willow go, no cords snd easy to clean, it’s quiet and not heavy

I bought a pumpables with their liquid shield kit and I freaking love this thing!

I have the Zomee z2 which is portable. It comes with hands free cups, but those still have to be plugged in. It’s small enough that’s it’s no bid deal and I know people that just put that part in a Fanny pack to walk around with. It works great for me, been using for almost 2 months and still has the same amount of suction and it doesn’t take that long to start emptying me out.

Spectra S1, works great for me
