Gave birth in Saint Peters in November and my experience of the midwives were incredible, but the after-care if you require it was appalling. I’m just telling you as I wish someone told me. Xx
The after-care in the evening was appalling, in the day The girls did everything I could to make it amazing, but it was just too busy and chaotic the evening staff when you are at your most vulnerable, were just horrendous I just wanted to correct myself
@Olivia I had the same experience. I had my son there 5 years ago and the labour was great, couldn't fault it but the aftercare was terrible. I was left in a room with a screaming baby who wasn't feeding and I had very little support. I walked past the Abbey wing yesterday and it was shut then too. 😒
I am considering changing to Royal Surrey. Where are thinking of moving ? Also, reading your comments regarding the treatment after you gave birth, I really need to consider other options…
I am considering Royal Surrey but have a while to consider my options.
I gave birth last September at St Peter’s the care I received was exceptional good . I cannot fault them at all, and I was induced and had to stay 4 days . Hope it’s help
Just adding to @Elizabeth point. Aftercare in every department is pretty bad in all hospitals right now. Hospitals are amazing at getting the job done, getting the operation, getting the emergency rectified but they have never been known for their aftercare. I really don’t want to make people fearful as I think it’s a wider problem. St Peter’s is unfortunately underfunded in that department and their facilities are showing that. The team that work there will all give 💯 but when you’re at your most venerable, it is a shock to the system.
I had a baby in January at St Peter’s nearly died coz of there lack of care I’d go elsewhere !
I had a really positive experience at St Peters last month. I literally couldn't fault it, including the aftercare.
I thought St. Peter’s was ok, Labour ward and staff were lovely, afterwards wasn’t great but mainly because I was lucky enough to have my own room which meant maybe I was a little bit forgotten about, but I buzzed and they came so 🤷🏻♀️ I wouldn’t say my experience was negative, just maybe as a first time mum I thought they would have checked on me a bit more x
@Kate i had the same experience last year in November. After care was absolutely horrible. I had c section and nobody was there to take care of me and my baby. I had to pick him up myself and calm him down with all the pain I was in.
I had a great experience at St Peters 3 weeks ago. All the staff were amazing and supportive. My baby came 4 weeks early so we had to stay in transitional care for 72hrs and the support was great.
I found St Peter’s great though that was 2 years ago. The birth centre was open for me though I had to go to the labour ward as started showing markers of infection (waters had been broken 24 hours). I agree the aftercare once I got to the normal ward wasn’t up to scratch, I was lucky I didn’t need much but they were brusque if you did. But through labour they were all brilliant in my experience.
I had my son there last March, and some of the midwives was amazing I have to agree with most of the ladies on here while giving birth they are amazing and the actual ward but when you go down to the other ward where you get induced and where you go when baby is born can’t remember what it was called- the aftercare is appalling I was left for days when needed a blood transfusion asap , won’t say no more I don’t want to worry you but I would recommend another hospital x

I had my baby at Royal surrey and I could not fault them they were brilliant.
I've had two babies there and two ectopics last year and my care was amazing however currently 29 weeks pregnant and care could be alot better . Due to have my baby in the next couple of weeks due to complications so no point changing now but I definitely want to. X
@Olivia I had similar experience last year! I had a c section and the staff during the evening was very beautiful inconsiderate and insensitive. I spent two nights crying my eyes out.
Hi, I’m due October and I’m the same, really worried about the rating and will probably change to Royal Surrey, any idea how you change hospitals for this? I have no clue and it’s my first pregnancy.
I've gave birth at Frimley first time round then St Peters this March in the labour ward (although there was gas and air at the time).. the midwives were absolutely amazing at St Peters. They were so supportive and attentive. I couldn't fault them. I was shocked at the rating. X
Two very positive experiences at St Peter’s. After care was just as great but much slower. First time was waiting on a Dr to take my bloods and bring baby’s meds and second time I was in birthing centre so I’m guessing others had priority / needed care sooner. Excellent care from a very stretched team.
I caught covid when I was almost 8 months pregnant last summer and because of that and a platelet issue I was on labour ward/the other ward for a week. I received really great care. 2 weeks later, I was back in when I went into labour. (I had an emergency c the first time so had a planned one scheduled a little later). Anyway, I couldn't fault my experiences. Both times, everyone were super supportive, helpful and informative. I stayed in 1 night after labour and was discharged the following evening. On the flip side, I also know some people who had quite bad experiences with care and support there.
Personally I had a good experience (2/3/23) C-section and small baby, in for 3 days, looked after physically and mentally. You are given support but I think the idea of them leaving you with your baby is to teach you how to do it. They’re always on call with a button. I’m from Guildford so all mum friends go to RS, but not ever heard good things there, and I lost my first pregnancy whilst under RS care and had no support available so was dealt with in St Peter’s. Had nothing but good things to say. Wait times are a bit long where short staffed but that’s a given nowadays! Ps gas and air now reinstated!
I had my first baby y at St peters and she was 3 months old and st peters were amazing to the point I'm back there now with my second the gas and air has been switched back on and they are only rated inadequate due to training and staffing levels which I'm sure their working towards because they can't legally leave there rating like that they have to improve it x
I had my baby there 4 months ago and I’m in the process of suing them !!they left me with broken waters for 3 days I got sepsis. They done my epidural wrong 3 times so I not have permanent nerve damage and lost use of some of my leg. After care was awful some lady knocked my catheter on the floor didn’t clean it up ended up slipping in my own piss !! My baby’s heartbeat stopped 7 times and coz it was night time wouldn’t take action so when I gave birth I had no idea if he was even alive. I was there the day cqc was there and I can tell you there’s a lot more going wrong then simple no training ect. I would never give birth there again !
Hii…. Yes i also read about it and i am changing the hospital to Hillingdon as my first one was delivered there…
