Any Canadian Moms have to go back to work while on parental leave?

What do the mamas out there do for work while they have babes at home? I am 13 weeks pregnant with my second. My other babe is 8 months. I found out I have no choice but to go back to work in order to qualify for EI again. I have been trying to find childcare since before my 1st was born. But I have had no luck.

Be careful as these posts often attract MLMs which are notorious for preying on mom's and tend to cost more than you would ever make. The moms I know who have gone back to work have either had their partners take the last part of parental leave or are working on a schedule opposite to their partner so someone is always home with the baby.

Thanks @Samantha figured the same just curious lol would never pay for something to "make money" but I can see the appeal for some. I already have a wfh job when I go back but always curious about additional streams lol

@Sonia I also have a wfh job and was thinking of doing part time childcare with a nanny if I can't get into a daycare. I would flex my hours so I work in the am for an hour before LO is up, then hang out with him for a few hours, then work while the nanny is with him, hang out in the late afternoon with him, and then wrap up my day after he goes to bed. It wouldn't be amazing but it's so difficult to find childcare that I feel like we have to get creative.

Yes definetely. We have our LO on a few waitlists but I'm not keen on sending her yet. I'm on a hybrid when I return so need to be in the office twice a week but fortunately my husband has a flexible job (realtor) and will stay with her those 2 days a week and then the 3 days I'm home we will have to collaborate together to manage our meetings and work while both providing care for her. Also not super ideal but will have to make it work. Lol ditto on being creative!

@Sonia it sounds like you will be able to manage it - maybe you can add some additional support with a good babysitter or a nanny to help get you both through especially since pregnancy isn't easy. It is also worth considering working less than full time. You only need to work 30 hours a week for the next 24 weeks to qualify for EI (700 hours total).

how long do you need to go back at for before qualifying for EI again?
