2nd degree internal tear with stitches

I gave birth on Wednesday and had to have internal stitches for 2nd degree tears. I've managed to wee etc so I've overcome that bit 😆 my next thing is pooping! I know it's gonna happen, but I'm so nervous for it! I've been taking Laxido to make sure it's soft as I have ibs and also had iron tablets....but any tips?!?!

Will it just tear my stitches open as I think it would 😆

It’s nowhere near as bad as you think it’s going to to be :)

As long as you don't get constipated and don't strain you will be fine x

From my experience it actually wasn’t that bad I was also very very nervous then after I didn’t know why I was!

I had second degree internal too on wed and I pooed yesterday no problem. When you’re ready it will come. I drank a lot of orange juice and lots of water. The weeing is painful for me but the poo was easy. The wiping not so much but for there in the end x

Honestly it’s fine! Just don’t push too much wait for it to come - second the orange juice - I had lots of apple juice!

I had two tears and it was fine just took lacoluse. From experience a second degree tear was way better to recover from than being cut!

I had stitches Monday! Finally managed to poo on Thursday, it’s not as bad as you think! I ended up sitting on the toilet with a warm flannel covering my vagina and ontop of my perineum for ease and I was fine!

I’ve had two tears, first one was a third degree tear and the second one was a second degree tear… Can honestly say with a second degree tear it was absolutely fine! Especially taking the laxatives! Don’t overthink it and really try to relax and don’t strain and it’s absolutely fine x

I had the same and is no where near as bad as you think, I aye lots of fruit and veg haha z

Use baby wipes too if you’re worried about the stitches after! Or spritz for bits on the toilet roll to soften it when wiping.
Best advice I could give is don’t work yourself up over it (that was a mistake I made!) xx

I was so scared! The build up was worse than the actual event! If you’re worried just take some laxatives or get some juice in you x

I was really nervous too, with an episiotomy and internal stitches but actually pooing was a lot easier than peeing. Lots of water, prunes and take your time on the toilet.

Honestly I'm in agony when I poop but that's because I hadn't pooped since 2 days before I had my baby and didn't do anything until 4 days after. Its not as bad as you think and the stitches won't tear but sometimes it can feel like another baby is coming out of you if it gets a little stuck haha

Honestly it was all psychological in the end. My partner went to the shop and typically it was that moment I felt the ‘movement’ and I phoned him up panicking because I was worried about the baby waking up and me being unable to get to her.

But I went to the loo and it was like a normal poop. Had another one today as well.
