Car seat crying

Does anyone else’s little one seem to absolutely hate the car/car seat?! The last few weeks have been so hard getting him out in the car… he’ll cry a little bit and then fall asleep but if he wakes up whilst we’re still on the move then he absolutely screams to the point of him being breathless. It’s happened today and we pulled over to take him out and calm him down but as soon as he was back in it was the same again. He’s not too warm as we always make sure we don’t overdress him/keep the car cool as he’s quite a warm baby, we always make sure he’s got his comfy and/or a toy… I just don’t know what we’re doing wrong? He’s 5 months but a really big 5 month old… he’s still got room in the car seat but not sure when it’s worth considering the next size up? Just makes you feel so trapped at home as I really hate the thought of dragging him out and upsetting him 😔

What car seat are you using I ended up getting a 360 turn to me as my lo is tall and she was at the last notch on the neck/back and strap adjuster (located behind/on the back of the seat) in the travel system carry car seat I was using ickle bubba xx

We have the Cybex Cloud Z one I think it is? He grew out of the newborn insert super fast and his little shoulders do seem quite cramped in it now… he basically hates being restricted 🙈 x

Have you adjusted the headrest so the shoulder straps are in the right place! Like in this video? I had to do that for mine as my girl was screaming everytime we were in the car too! I didn’t know about it until my sister said https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z47gQIj1xIo

Oh my goodness I was literally scrambling around the car seat wondering if there was an adjustment after seeing your first message but couldn’t find anything 🙈 thank you so much!! Feel so stupid, I had no idea that was there!! Praying that this is the solution! Thank you!! Xx

That’s okay I had no idea either my lo was suffering not so silently until she was nearly 4 months before I was made aware 😂😂 I just assumed she hated the car

We used to have this, but he has been a lot better since we got a mirror for him so he can see us. I also try to be more gentle when breaking and pulling up because that seemed to trigger him as well.

Our LO is the same with any trip longer than 1h. We had to pull over a few times to get him out and calm him down. I recently tried playing the happy song by Imogen Heap - don't know why but this works in calming him straight away 😂
