sitting in high chair

Hi everyone My baby is nearly 5 months. He can sit with some support around him. I’m considering to buy a high chair for him soon so I can start sitting him up on it and get him ready for purée foods that I’m planning to start around 5.5-6 months. Is this a good idea ? Or should I wait until he can sit unsupported to put him in high chair. first time mom here 👋🏼

We just bought our high chair and my little one is 5 months too 😊 perfect age to start solids, we’re starting in two weeks. As long as your little one can hold his neck up, strapping him in for extra support will be fine.

My GP, Paediatrician and also a specialist Speech Pathologist said no need to wait until they can sit unsupported, just ensure you get a good quality Highchair with a high back and footrest. You can use rolled towels to provide additional support if needed

I never thought to ask this 😂 I've been putting my bub in since 3 months- just adding some blanket/folded jumper in the extra space to keep her a bit more supported. As long as she was slightly tilted back- bum not touching the crease of the highchair she was fine. I didn't need to strap her in cause she didn't wriggle too much. Please Note: she was always supervised, I would not have her unstrapped without me being right next to her.

I bought the Oribel cocoon Z which can be used from newborn. Got a sale price on mydeal site it's been awesome I have been using it for a month now and she likes all positions the full upright one she is only just getting used to now she is nearly 5 months old
