TW mention of SIDS // advice on anxiety

I think more women than most deal with the anxiety about something happening to their baby while they’re asleep. This is something I cannot shake. I’ve had 7 and a half hours sleep myself since Wednesday and my body is not coping. My little one is 2 days old and I just cannot go to sleep at the thought of SIDS. I’m keeping an eye on every breath and it’s becoming super unhealthy. Has anyone got any coping mechanisms for this? I know I will never fully remove these thoughts from my head. But I just want to get my head down for a couple of hours while he’s asleep Tia x

hiya! i have a 7 month old at the moment but i was just looking at all the different groups and came across this. SIDS is such a scary thing and after having your baby it is definitely one of the main reasons for not sleeping. I remember watching my little boys every breath for nights on end. As long as you follow safe sleeping properly and make sure that the room baby is in is at the recommended temperature then all will be okay. I got a little temperature egg from amazon which was amazing. ill post a photos for you. But it was honestly amazing knowing that the room temperature was right and that baby was safe. It will get easier eventually but unfortunately the worry never really goes away xx

I ordered a babysense to monitor baby’s breathing during the night. I think that could calm you down as it will beep for every little change in baby’s breathing

The sensor pad for sleeping eased my anxiety with my first two boys so I have one for this baby too 😊 x

Have you heard of the snuza hero ? It attaches to the babies nappy and beeps if they don’t breathe for 20 seconds. Might help put your mind at rest so you can relax a bit!
