Day & night

Does anyone else feel like they have a completely different baby in the day and at night? My little boy is 3 weeks on Tuesday and in the day he naps fine and sometimes I need to wake him for a feed after 4 hours yet at night he can barely make it 2. He’s EBF and feeds for pretty much half an hour at a time so as you can imagine by the time I’ve fed him, changed him, burped him and then got him back to sleep he’s not down for long at all before he’s up again. Feel like he’s getting worse rather than better and I’m exhausted 😴.

Yes I know what you mean my little girl sometimes seems to sleep soo peacefully in the day and not so much at night , they are still adjusting and not knowing the difference between day and night. I currently keep night feeds quite and dark. I also find if I let me LG sleep on my chest for a little while after feeds she seems more settled and to sleep for longer at night once I lay her down. New born stage is soo short and it goes soo fast, I'm currently loving the nights just me and her and cuddles and feeds :) (I have 3 other children) xx

@Carly I know we do that too, keep it dark and let him fall asleep on my chest. Just feel sorry for him as he seems so happy and content in the day but then not at night. I’ve got a love to dream swaddle that I’ve been too afraid to use after the health visitor said she wouldn’t recommend it but I guess they can’t recommend anything like that can they so I might try it tomorrow night and see if that helps

We’re exactly the same! These past few days were only making it to about 90minutes in between feeds at night 🥲 she seems to sleep fine between feeds at night, but will not sleep in her crib at all during the day. She also wakes up around 6 every morning crying for us to pick her up so I’m nap trapped from then 🫣

I have a 3 week old and my breastfeeding class advised not letting baby sleep longer than 3 hrs at a time during the day, try to feed baby as much as possible during the day - and supposedly they might (MIGHT) sleep for 3 or 4 hr stretches at night. My little one wakes every 2.5 / 3 hrs at night but I think it depends if they are having a growth spurt / cluster feeding etc xx

@Gez I tried feeding him more yesterday evening in the hope he’d sleep longer in the night … didn’t work 🤦🏻‍♀️😂. I’m going to try my swaddle tonight and see whether he’s more unsettled in the next to me cos it’s a big open space to him

@Holly 6am is his favourite time to be up as well. They keep us on our toes don’t they haha

Yeah, my boy could sleep all day if I let him, and party all night. We’ve resorted to giving him a small bottle of formula before bed which helps him sleep 3/4 hours but once he wakes up at 2/3am he’s not letting me put him down for the rest of the night x
