Nap question

My 7 week old currently only has contact naps and in a couple of weeks or so I would like her to start to have naps in her snuz crib. It's getting exhausting wearing a sling most of the day. Any tips for independent naps?

My little girls 8 weeks and does mostly contact naps but ive started using her first nap to try and pop her down for a nap, it only lasts 25/40 mins but im just keeping it up as i did with my first so we can build on it. Ive found she doesnt like sleeping where she sleeps at night at the monent and wants her sleeping bag x

@Lara I used sleeping bags for naps with my first. Just used a lower tog one than his night time one. Do you put her down asleep or awake ? X

I've tried to have my kids soothe themselves to sleep as soon as possible. Basically all I do is learn their wake windows and when I know they'll be tired very soon I put them down alone, with a blanket. Usually asleep within 5-10 min of that. Luckily for me they only whinge about it occasionally, and when that happens the dummy puts them to sleep along with a head rub, head down over eyes works. My daughter prefers her play mat over her downstairs moses basket for some reason. That's our only challenge. For some reason she won't sleep in the basket unless she's already in a deep sleep and I move her there. Ok in my bedroom moses basket at night though. No idea why lol

đź‘‹ sleep consultant here, lots of tips on my insta @suffolk_sleep_fairy x

I started around 8 weeks with pushing one nap per day in the cot. I started with getting her to sleep first and then worked on “drowsy but awake”, which for me means just knowing her sleepy signals, putting her down awake and then walking away and letting her grizzle for 10 mins or so. It rarely worked at first but she got increasingly good at settling on her own.
