What’s everyone’s thoughts on baby being in the car seat slightly longer than 2 hours if I’m sat in the back watching her?

I have to do it sometimes, and she’s okay! I know it’s not recommended though

We got stuck in traffic and had no choice with nobody in the back. Things happen, I wouldn’t do it deliberately though as I can’t go that long without stopping for a break myself 😂 just let them have a good stretch on a blanket when you do stop!

I think it’s generally fine, if you can manage to pull over and just let her have a little 5 min stretch it would be better, but then if you’re on a motorway the whole time it’s not always that easy😅 but I think as long as it’s not for hours on end it should be okay

We had a 2 and half hour journey 2 weeks ago and we didn’t stop but as soon as we arrived we got him out! if it was more than 2 and half hours we would of stopped but I’m sure half an hour more wouldn’t of hurt!

We went on a long car journey yesterday and couldn’t stop anywhere safely but got him out when we arrived about 2.5 hours later. I think it’s fine to do every once in a while as long as they seem comfortable x

Sometimes it’s difficult to ensure stops, especially when travelling on the motorway. I often travel from Gloucestershire to Devon & my son will generally sleep the whole time ( 2.5 hrs ) if that’s the case, we get on with the journey & let him rest. If he’s awake & irritable, that’s when we make time for a stop

Well I wanted to stop again but my partner who was driving wasn’t for it. He was groaning and I said “oh need a break do you?” He said yes & I said imagine how baby feels! Traffic is typical for Friday afternoon so crawling on the motorway.. anyway she did a poonami and he won’t have that in the car so we had to stop anyway 🤣🤣

We did a pretty long overnight drive a few times and left him longer- prob 4 hour stretcher and stopped to feed him or whenever he woke up fussing

Personally the only time for us will be if stuck in traffic and it can't be helped like accidents and not being able to leave a motorway or road. The risk of optional asphyxiation is too great imo. It's 2 hours with breaks too and if in infant carrier some of the safest brands recommend 45 minutes max and 90 for next stage as well (avionaut and axkid for all seats not just their own). We've regularly had to do 3 hour journeys due to medical appointments and ensure we stop at services as close as possible along the route to time frame. We'll have an 8 or 9 hour one soon if we can't fly due to cost, and will be splitting it up over 2 days and still stopping regularly as well xx
